POLICE are hunting an animal abuser after reports that a cat was beaten and thrown off a bridge in Newcastle.
Officers have released a CCTV image of a man they want to identify and trace after the "horrendous incident" on Thursday evening.
It was reported that at about 6.30pm a stranger had picked up a pet cat and started beating it against the ground on Stratford Road in Heaton.
The large black and white cat, called Toulouse, was then thrown from Burn Bridge before the man attacked the cat again and put it in his back pack.
