With 60 years of serving an evolving and now diverse southwest community, Rosscarrock School will shut its doors after public school trustees voted unanimously in support of closure Tuesday.
Citing low enrolment and limited educational opportunities in small classes and combined grades, the Calgary Board of Education has advocated since 2018 for closure of the K-6 school.

In the spring of 2019, trustees defied administration’s recommendations for closure and decided in a tight, emotional vote to keep the school open, arguing the school was vital for its supports to the community, including new Canadians in the area, many of them refugees from the Middle East.
