The mining industry regulator has handed down its findings and recommendations into the collapse of a Central Queensland mine workshop last year.
Resources Safety and Health Queensland issued a safety bulletin about the incident as well as other severe weather events at coal mines.
The bulletin stated these weather events resulted in severe damage to facilities and building structures, including the workshop collapse at Peak Downs, the collapse of a steel framed and clad shed as well as snapped power poles, damaged building cladding, signs and uprooted trees.
“Investigations of weather data suggests that in at least one event the site may have experienced a ‘microburst’ within a severe thunderstorm,” it said.
