CASSELTON, N.D. — March 2021 marked the 20th annual pilgrimage to the "Last Frontier" for Casselton veterinarian Dr. John Reichert. His childhood interest evolved into a personal mission.
"I probably watched too much TV as a kid ... black and white TV, Sargent Preston and his dog Yukon, the king. ... Sled dogs always have intrigued me," Reichert said.
The Iditarod commemorates the 1925 serum run, during which a sled dog team saved sick children in Nome, Alaska.
