Cases Of Avian Influenza Detected In Shopian
An official told the news agency
KNO that some dead crows were found a few days before in the village, following which, their samples were taken, which were tested positive.
District Magistrate Shopian, Sachin Kumar Vaishyal has issued necessary precautions to prevent the spread of infection to the poultry birds.
“ICAR-NISHAD (OIE Reference Laboratory for Avian Influenza) has confirmed that the samples of dead crows in the district are positive for Avian Influenza Virus H5N8,” reads the order issued by District Magistrate.
“The epicenter of the positive samples has been reported in village Wadipora, Tehsil Chitragam, District Shopian. It is imperative on the part of the administration that immediate necessary action should be taken in order to prevent the spread of infection to the poultry birds as well as to the general masses,” the order further reads.
