Carrie Mary Sheffield (May 16, 1922 to March 8, 2021) was born in Fredonia, New York, the daughter of Charles V. Leone and Josephine G. Leone. Carrie was preceded in demise by her husband Charles W. Sheffield of over fifty-five years and her father and mother, Mr. & Mrs. Charles V. Leone, her sister Nettie Leone, Florence (Leone) Popielarz Joseph V. Leone and her daughter Charlotte Ann (Sheffield) Hamada. Survivors include Carries’s daughter Charlotte’s husband Kiyoshi Hamada along with nieces and a generation of younger relatives.
Heritage Notes
Carrie’s paternal (Leone) family arrived at “Ellis Island” in New York with a quest for a new safe life in the United States; where the family could carry-on Mr. Leone’s father’s farm and cannery business founded in the town of Pomfert (Fredonia, New York) with Mr. Charles Leone’s wife Josephine G. Carrie’s father Charlie, was an avid Bible and book reader and took up interest in the International Bible Society of the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society of Pennsylvania and New York, along with the Bible Study Program offered for individuals and their family interested in availing themselves of the ministry Bible education studies. Carrie with her parents had opportunity to accompany her parents in attending regional Bible study groups along with other Bible related events that Jehovah’s Witnesses presented such as: International J.W. Conventions (New York City, Toronto, Canada), domestic conventions (New York-Ohio) and other regions of the United States (some programs called Ditrict and Circuit Assemblies) along with other Bible students the family benefited from prepared Public Bible Lecture programs held locally and in various nearby areas.
