Car sales February 2021: Tata Motors clock best-ever monthly sales in 9 years
The Indian automobile industry battled one of the lowest periods last year. Because of impending BS6 emission norms, the carmakers were already struggling to rack up sales when the COVID-19 outbreak in the country compelled the carmakers to shut down operations for days. And it wasn't until the latter half of 2020 when car sales in India started picking up. But gradually things are approaching normalcy as people are now switching to personal vehicles and avoiding public transportation. As a result, most carmakers have been reporting sales growth for the past few months and this trend was witnessed last month as well. Companies like Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, and Toyota reported substantial year on year sales growth. MG, however, witnessed its best-ever monthly sales in the country, registering a 215 per cent sales growth as compared to February 2021. Besides Morris Garages, there's another carmaker that reported stellar sales growth last month -- Tata Motors.
