School board of trustees chairman Grant Squires learned of the fire at 3am, after police called the caretaker so firefighters could access the building and check the fire had not reached the interior.
He said the incident was disappointing and “beyond irritating”. It did not appear as though the car was moved closer to the building before it was set on fire
The resource teacher usually parked it by the corner of the building during the school holidays because the school’s security cameras had better coverage there.
The building was used as a base for that teacher and administration, but was not a classroom.
