A tip that brought members of the Cape Coral police and Lee County Sheriff's Office to a possible crime scene in the city didn't pan out, a police official confirmed.
In the middle of last week, interim Cape Coral Police Chief Tony Sizemore spoke at an excavation in the backyard of a home along Country Club Boulevard. There Lee County Sheriff's crime scene technicians and others were digging, trying to see if a tip would produce results.
Apparently, the tip was a bust.
"The tip didn't lead to anything," Sgt. Patrick O'Grady, with the police public information office, said.
