CANTON The Canton Negro Oldtimers Activity Center and city have reached an agreement that allows the center's doors to stay open.
The city sought to close the facility at 1016 12th Street NE by filing a civil nuisance complaint last year in Stark County Common Pleas Court. It described disturbances to the neighborhood and numerous visits from police — 116 times from Jan. 1, 2019 to July 31, 2020 — for criminal activity often involving drugs and guns.
Judge Natalie Haupt presided over the case.
