The region's proximity to a mass of warm air over the West Coast caused temperatures to rise, triggering warnings from the National Weather Service. In the Pacific Northwest, the center of the heat dome, cities shattered all-time record highs over the weekend. For the next few days, high temperatures could soar more than 30 degrees above normal in some parts of Washington and Oregon.
In Stockton, Monday and Tuesday are projected to be the hottest days of the week, with Tuesday's high flirting with triple digits before falling back into the low to mid-90s for the rest of the week, according to AccuWeather forecasts. Nearby foothills communities are well into the triple digits, raising wildfire fears amid a historic drought.
