California city votes to remove a NOOSE from its logo

Placerville in California has long been nicknamed Hangtown for its lynchings
In 1849 two Frenchmen and one Chilean were lynched for suspected crimes
The nickname stuck but the the noose on the town logo has concerned some
On Tuesday night the City Council voted to remove the noose from the image
Critics of the proposal said that they were trying to erase Placerville's history
