Caitlin Elsaesser: Consider comics by people of color

My children and I often enjoy reading the comics section. Comic strips are a wonderful way to encounter new ideas about the world and find humor in important issues in our lives.
But while there are many beloved comic strips published by the Gazette, all appear to be produced by white artists. Eleven of the 13 comics in a recent issue of the paper were by white men. I would love to see a wider range of voices represented in the comics section of our daily newspaper.
Please consider running regular comic strips by Black, Latino or other people of color. To name a few of the many options available to us: Where I’m Coming From (Barbara Brandon-Croft), Boondocks (Aaron McGruder), and Secret Asian Man (Tak Toyoshima).
