Vera Tomlinson has stepped down
Changes in the ruling Conservative cabinet mean there will be a shake-up in some of the Swindon Borough Council's most important committees.
The elevation of Tim Swinyard to the cabinet position with responsibility for levelling up means the planning committee will have to elect a new chairman.
With 10 Conservative members and five Labour, Coun Swinyard’s successor is likely to be a Conservative.
The retirement of long-serving councillor Vera Tomlinson means the licensing committee will need a new chairman – and vice chairman Vinay Manro, who chaired such panels over the last year, is the favourite to step up for the job.
