In a statement, the DPWH said the bypass road is the Philippine’s official entry for the MINO Best Project Award – Community Road Category of the Road Engineering Association of Asia and Australasia (REAAA).
“It was nominated for its “social effectiveness and impact, environment friendliness and technical excellence,” the department said.
DPWH Secretary Mark Villar said the Pulilan – Baliuag Diversion Road, which was completed in 2019, promotes biking for transport and recreational use, making it a safer and environment-friendly road facility for motorists, bikers and pedestrians.
Under the project’s final phase, lane widening and installation of reflectorized bike lanes and metal beam guards, and the construction of slope protection structures were implemented.
