Engaging with the government and identifying milestones in the vaccine rollout remains instrumental despite the Morrison government abandoning targets, according to Australian Chamber of Commerce Acting CEO Jenny Lambert.
She told Sky News even if exact dates were not possible businesses would like to see talks begin about some targets in the vaccine rollout “and then aligning some of the easing of restrictions to those milestones”.
“Very, very keen to still engage with the government plan that gives us more certainty and more transparency,” Ms Lambert said.
“The important thing is to continue to engage with key stakeholders such as business and to be transparent with the community and actually start talking about how we can see a path to reopening some of these restrictions because we just can’t continue to push off forever the re-engagement with the world.
“We’ve got to work out how to manage that risk effectively and actually work out what we can do in stages that still manages the health risk.”
