Burlington, IA- The Burlington Police Department is investigating a shooting incident that occurred Saturday, May 6th. According to a news release, Burlington Police Officers were sent to the 1500-block of Lucas Avenue at 4:45 AM Saturday, after a homeowner reported their house had been struck by a projectile after hearing multiple gunshots. The residents told officers they had found a bullet hole and projectile inside their home. The bullet broke a window on the second floor of the house and continued through a closet and into an adjoining bedroom before coming to a rest on top of the bed the homeowners were sleeping in. Officers were able to establish a possible area the bullet was fired from and began canvassing the area. seven 9mm shell casings were located in the eastbound lanes of Highway 34. Police say the distance between the shell casings suggests someone was shooting from a moving car going east on Highway 34. There were no injuries or other property damage reported.
