The North Country is rich in musical talent but with venues closed and concerts virtual until the pandemic is over, it’s even harder for musicians to get their work to an audience. So last year NCPR began featuring music by regional artists during our news programs. Patricia Julien of Burlington is a jazz flutist and a music professor at The University of Vermont. She told Doyle Dean she’s been thinking a lot about how the pandemic may have changed her - and how she works.

Patricia Julien: I hope that I will come away from all this able to be a little bit more expressive in my day to day life. You know I strive to be expressive as a musician and that feels like home to me. That's a place for me to kind of be emotional. But I'm hoping now that I'll actually be able to carry that into my real life a little bit more.
