The Burger King vegan Whopper is now available in China, the Caribbean, and Latin America.
The Plant-Based Whopper features a vegan patty by Netherlands-based brand The Vegetarian Butcher, which was acquired by Unilever in December 2018.
Burger King launched the vegan patty in 325 locations across Beijing, Shenzhen, Shanghai, and Hangzhou. The fast-food burger chain plans to roll-out the meatless burger in the second quarter of 2021.
The new plant-based burger was also added to the menu in select countries in the Caribbean and Latin America. These include Costa Rica, Colombia, Mexico, the Bahamas, Nicaragua, the Dominican Republic, Suriname, Saint Martin, and Saint Kitts. According to Unilever, the Plant-Based Whopper will launch in more countries throughout next year.
