On September 17, local time, a four-story building under construction in Uyo, the capital of Akwa Ibom state in southern Nigeria collapsed, leaving some people trapped in the rubble. The casualties are currently unknown. Due to construction irregularities, the use of bad building materials, old houses, and poor supervision and law enforcement, building collapse accidents have occurred in Nigeria from time to time.
