Bugatti Divo  Handout / Bugatti
Bugatti is recalling 79 examples of its Chiron, Chiron Sport, and Divo models in the U.S. because of a defect with the cars’ Electronic Stability Control (ESC).
On affected models, built between December 2017 and September 2020, the problem may disable some of the functionality of the driving aid.
Specifically, the software error may, after an ignition cycle, cause the ESC to “not automatically default back to the full-function original mode if the Handling Mode is selected on the Drive Mode switch,” says the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
The Bugatti Chiron’s price tag started at roughly US$2.6 million in 2017. The Divo costs roughly twice that. The three models share many of their underlying chassis hardpoints and components.
