Broken water heater sends Oakland firefighters packing. They relocate to fire house 2 miles away

Oakland Fire Station 25, located on the edge of a large regional park, was closed on Saturday because a water heater hasn’t produced hot water since Friday afternoon, and firefighters who staff the fire house temporarily relocated to another station, according to the firefighter union and fire officials.
The closure comes a day before a red flag warning takes effect in the region during which fire danger will be high. Zac Unger, president of the International Association of Firefighters Local 55, said the closure means Station 25’s four firefighters won’t be able to respond to emergencies as quickly because they are being relocated to Station 24, just under two miles away.
