Brockton to exercise eminent domain takings for public safety complex

BROCKTON — The city is looking to take three downtown properties from private owners as part of the construction of the $98 million public safety complex.
Eminent domain is a process that allows governments to forcibly purchase property from private owners for public use.
"You have before you an order tonight relative to the public safety complex and two parcels on Highland Street, the top of Legion Parkway, that the city is desirous of acquiring relative to the construction of the public safety complex and the creation of parking and green space at the top of Legion Parkway," Bridges told the councilors.
