Since the beginning of the pandemic, 332 city residents have died from the disease, with four additional deaths reported Friday, the most deaths reported on a single day in the city since at least July.
Two of the deaths occurred on Dec. 15 and two on Dec. 16, said Dr. Richard Herman, the city's pandemic consultant.
The city’s two hospitals — Signature Healthcare Brockton Hospital and Good Samaritan Medical Center — reported 63 hospitalized patients being treated for COVID-19 on Friday, down from 47 on Thursday. Eleven of those patients are in the intensive care unit, up two from Thursday.
That's the most COVID-19 patients between Brockton's two hospitals since June 1, when 65 were hospitalized.
