BROCKTON — Public school students in the city have been remote since the beginning of the school year, meaning teachers haven't been able to see the children face-to-face or celebrate any occasions with them.
That's not expected to change for at least a few more weeks, so teachers decided to bring Christmas to their students.
A group of 22 Brockton Public Schools staff and 21 Brockton Police Department officers teamed up on separate ride-alongs to deliver about 400 gifts to children over a five-day period.
The project was the brainchild of police Lt. William Schlieman and his sister-in-law, third-grade Downey School teacher AnnaLee Weatherbee.
