Brexit was greeted with mixed feelings across Europe as many EU leaders expressed concern over the impact of an imminent UK departure. This was seen during Brexit trade talks, as member states urged London and Brussels to come to a deal to avoid turbulence on both a political and economic front. However, other European countries, such as Switzerland, watched the negotiations closely. The country is outside of the EU, and embroiled in its own tense negotiations with Brussels over a partnership agreement.
