Braid: Ignore cries of fiscal crises — city hall's finances are fine

Current conditions mean the city can’t expect a credit upgrade to AA+ or the highest rating, AAA, DBRS says.
Also, some of the positive picture comes from funding support via both Ottawa and the UCP government.
But this fiscal snapshot, although hardly ideal, does not reveal anything close to crisis.
Councillors and Mayor Naheed Nenshi have taken a fierce pounding in the past couple of years, most notably over the business tax fiasco that imposed usurious hikes on small companies of all kinds.
But, in general, it’s quite remarkable that 10 or more council members will leave office with finances stable and even improving.
