A wintry walk over the festive season is a great British tradition – and that applies as much to New Year's day as any. While on normal years a local stroll offers an escape from stuffy houses and arguments around the Scrabble board, this year as we teeter on the brink of a national lockdown our neighbourhood green spaces will in many cases provide the only opportunity to meet up with family and friends.
