The Booker Prize has announced its prestigious longlist for 2021 and author Sunjeev Sahota, Rachel Cusk, Kazuo Ishiguro, and Patricia Lockwood are among those longlisted. A total of 13 authors have made it to the Booker dozen this year.
Founded in 1969, the Booker Prize is one of the most prestigious annual awards which is given to novels written in the English language and published in the United Kingdom.
The longlist for the 50,000-pound Booker Prize 2021 was announced on July 27. Historian Maya Jasanoff, Chair of Judges, said that the books longlisted for Booker Prize 2021 "consider how people grapple with the past - whether personal experiences of grief or dislocation or the historical legacies of enslavement, apartheid, and civil war."
