Authorities seeking information on cold case
A breaking and entering call resulted in the Onslow County Sheriff's Office discovering property, a burned vehicle and the body of the property owner.
Accoridng to a post on their Facebook page, the Onslow County Sheriff’s Office is seeking information concerning the death of Gary Morton, of Weatherington Road, located off Old 30 Road. On December 8, 2016, deputies responded to a report of a breaking and entering at Mr. Morton’s residence and that Mr. Morton was missing.
While this report was being taken, deputies responded to a call for service where neighbors stated they saw two individuals going into an abandoned residence located at Cypress Court (Gum Branch area). Deputies responded and a search of the abandoned residence was conducted, where it was discovered that property belonging to Morton was located inside.
