The two were separated at the time of the incident. Nelson was arrested in East Canton late Friday evening after a community search by Canton police, U.S. Marshals Service and the Stark County Sheriff's Office.
Friends and former co-workers of Rogers stood patiently outside of Canton Municipal Court on Monday in support of their beloved friend. The group wore custom T-shirts that read "Love shouldn't hurt" and held purple balloons.
The group said they'd be back Tuesday.
Community activist Sierra Mason was outside with Roger's former co-workers and spoke on their behalf.
"We wanted to show up and offer support because of the situation with it being domestic violence, we wanted to support the family," Mason said.
