MUMBAI: The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation(BMC) will spend around Rs 6.3 crore for constructing a brand new steel foot over bridge (FOB) at the site of the Himalaya bridge that crashed in March 2019. The bridge will take 15 months to complete and the BMC is expecting work to begin by the end of May or early June.
According to BMC officials, the stainless steel bridge will be more durable and will not rust in the sultry sea breeze of Mumbai. “The new FoB will be 28.50 meters in length and 4.40 meters in width.
A part of Himalaya bridge, which connected the north end of CSMT to Badaruddin Tayabji lane, crashed on March 14, 2019, killing seven persons and injuring 30 others.
