Anyone booking a short-term rental property in Bloomingdale will be required to rent it for at least 30 days, according to new restrictions approved by the village board.
Trustees also voted on Dec. 14 to require short-term rental properties to be registered with the village. The registration fee is $500 per year.

The changes come after a shooting this summer at a rental house in neighboring Roselle.
"Approving a residential rental ordinance tightens things up a bit and makes us safer," Bloomingdale Mayor Franco Coladipietro said.
Village Administrator Peter Scalera said partygoers would be deterred from renting in Bloomingdale as a result of the long-term commitment involved.
