Twitter saying that many of those votes are many of those comments are misleading. We continue to feel, the senator and i, we continue to feel very good about how things stand. We have no doubt that when the count is finished, senator harris and i will be declared the winners. I asked everyone to stay calm. The process is working. The count is being completed. We will know very soon. Be following the results, live reports from pennsylvania, where we are just learning that the Truck Campaign is filing a lawsuit as votes are being counted there. Markets are extending the biggest rally since april as investors rushed back into tech. The fed is keeping results near zero. Cooper is out with ubereats is still a bright spot for cooper as the pandemic continues on. Abigail doolittle is following the rally as this election remains uncertain. It is amazing that we do not know who the president of the United States is and we are in the middle of the best week for stocks going back to april. If we take a look at what is happening to the s p 500 and the showingthe nasdaq is up gains. This is being helped out by the Technology Stocks that you are talking about. The apple complex doing well today. A piece of that has to do with some of the apple suppliers, as you know, as he spoke with the bestesterday, it had the day. They beat earnings and revenue estimates and a huge way. Most importantly, they boosted the out look on 5g. A beat and boost quarter as well. Analysts say that they put up a much better quarter than expected, positioning them well for 5g. Because tech is the defensive sector of 2020, to be that is why investors are going in this direction. In this uncertainty, they want the kind of companies that print form well to continue to do so. Nasdaq is up. Acting as if they know who the next president is, even though we do not. It is really pretty incredible here. Best weekt there, the since april. We have some early movers and that is peloton and tmobile. Both are trading higher at this point with strong quarters. Abigail doolittle, thank you so much. Waiting on final Election Results in various states. We are getting new headlines that President Trump campaign has filed a lawsuit seeking immediate injunction in savannah, the campaign saying that they have the right to look at every vote in pennsylvania, the subject of a lot of controversy. I want to bring in bloombergs david westin, host of balance of power who has been handling all of our election coverage. Walk us through what this means, as President Trump has been battling legal challenges in various states. Talk about this one in pennsylvania. David thank you for having me. There is a pattern here. We typically get a lawsuit out of the top campaign when they think that things are not going their way. Pennsylvania is critical, given where we are so far. President trump has been ahead in that state, but his lead has continued to go down. That is down one quarter in the last two hours now. A lot of people think that pennsylvania will ultimately go with Vice President biden. Papers, but this lawsuit is saying that we want to have our monitors thereto, all of the absentee ballots and make sure that nothing is going on wrong. Situation inlar michigan yesterday. They are saying that they think been no specifics alleginge that that is where the fraud is. Emily some networks have said that biden has one and arizona, but we have not made that call yet. When are you getting an update . Abigail david the fact that they are coming in slowly would indicate that it is working. We have hundreds of thousands of people who are volunteers. Doing their best. That is not necessarily a bad indication. The trunk was very upset that thehad called arizona Trump Campaign was ramp at the fox are called arizona earlier. I think the Associated Press is the golds standard. So we should keep watching arizona very carefully. Were supposed to have a briefing in a few moments from the pennsylvania secretary of state. She says that the vast majority of those will be counted sometime today. Emily we are going to be following that press conference from the secretary of state with pennsylvania. Unusualhat this is not for the votes to take this much toe, but it does harken back 2000, which i know it was very traumatic for people. You are the president of abc news at the time. Much longer than usual, or are we proceeding as normal . Was, and irtainly have been traumatized by will have been traumatized by will happen in 2000. From 20 years ago. This is very different and a couple of ways. That was not an absentee ballots issue. For the most part, that was not the problem. Night that iton was all about a few counties in florida. That was the focus going forward. There and mind, had over a hundred million americans vote in this country. Of theknow, and several states, you cannot start to count the ballots until election day. That is why this is quite different. And it was a big problem in 2000. A lot of people are still scarred by that, and that is why i think you for taking a little more time. That is why i think people are taking a little more time. Emily that you so much, it david westin. We will continue to watch your coverage of the night unfold. By atparker is standing the white house. At the president lead has dwindled basically everywhere. He needs pennsylvania to have a shot at winning. We are waiting for the press conference with the secretary of state of pennsylvania, which will be starting any minute now. Talk to us about where the president s head is right now besides tweets in all caps right now. Toio the campaign is trying show confidence. Meanwhile the president has been a second parts of the process. Attacks ofeen widespread fraud in the battleground states that he would need to get success. His pathts talk about here. He does have a path, but it is looking more more narrow. Mario right. His campaign had a call earlier today which i participated in. As ive mentioned, they are projecting confidence. They are saying that they still see a pathway through arizona, which is absolutely crucial for them. They still feel good about the chances of pennsylvania. The cabbie ought that they have been in the caveat they have been including on these states is that all legally cast ballots are counted in legal fashion. They are making sure that they sort of and any of their statements of optimism i signaling that there could be more legally legal fights to come. Emily talk me through whether or not you have heard the same thing. There has been discussion that trump is perhaps considering a resurrection run in 2024. Is there any truth to that . Mario there is always going to be speculation, especially given how close this election is. The polls got it wrong. The president was right that the once did underestimate him again. He has more than 80 million followers on twitter. Twitter toof used keep the party in line and ignite his face. We know that so far at least close to half of the nation supports him. Him neveral rating of dipped below the mid 30 level. The base has stuck with him through thick and thin. Ople will 2024, givend run in how much support he has out of the republican party. Emily we jumps way ahead there. But i had to ask if you heard anything about that. Mario parker on the phone for us. I will let you continue to cover the president s campaign. Thank you. On edge. , a nation americans on both sides remain anxious. We are going to hear from a former election administrator to how making sure this count is crucial. That is next. Emily no evidence to call into question the integrity of the vote counting process. State and local Election Officials are considering everything they had to deal with this 2020 election cycle, including the pandemic and civil unrest that are performed remarkably up until this point. Hopefully things will continue to do so. Given that the margins are so tight and that frustration is so high, what needs to be done to be sure that the next few days that the counting process is secure. Everyu confident that possible security measure has been taken . That localconfident Law Enforcement can help ensure an outcome that reflects the will of the american voters. I think what is really important is that the time and space needs to be given to election pollials and to our workers who may be participating in the count process to ensure that they are able to continue to count votes and a safe and secure manner. As long as everyone else is behaving in a manner that is accordance to federal and state law, there should be no problems. I understand that the counting process has improved significantly over the years and has even improved since 2016. In many ways, it feels so lowtech and even archaic. The examining of the signature and the adjudicating. As this process liberally low technology for a reason . Is lowtechrocess and some respects to help ensure that it is secure. One of the things that came out of the 2016 election and frankly even before that was the knowledge that there are things to be done they could ensure our elections are secure and further protected from foreign adversaries. One of those things is to have paper ballots. That is a sentiment that has been shared by the National Academy of sciences, the Central Intelligence committee and a bipartisan manner. As well as many other reputable entities. Another piece of this process as well is making sure that we have paper backups for each part of the election process. Election and for structure many things. Consistsinfrastructure of many things. Technology sometimes fails. It is really important to have failsafes, whether it is a so voters can checkin or having additional paper ballots, so voters are able to continue voting. I think that having paper is really important, because again, if a nephew areas after was to somehow breach if a nefarious actor was able to breach the voting area, emily do you think that this technology will be incorporated in the process to make it better and faster so that it does not take a new day to get new results from nevada, for example . Is always going to be a slow and methodical process . David i can say that while the tradition in previous elections was to be able to announce results for candidates on election night, that is not really how are system was designed. Each of the 50 states has a process, in which they certify Election Results for days and even weeks after election night. Part of the reason that we have that, it is that even when we have Election Technology that we have to expedite the voting process, wills and have ways to go back and check. In a manual manner, what our technology has provided, so that we can ensure with a great deal confident that the outcome people. The american i think that technology could help improving election processes. Having a manual processing in place is absolutely critical in ensuring the integrity and security of our elections. I think this is a good example of that. Emily a fascinating perspective from you given how many elections that you have worked on. David levine of the alliance for securing democracy elections integrity fellow. Thank you so much for joining us. We are talking about uber talkingg a wider loss, about its business ahead in the face of the pandemic. A mood take a bigger look at uber eats. That is next. This is bloomberg. Emily uber early results are and after facing the business after winning the prop 22 victory in california this week. I want to get more from angel o zino who has been tracking the results. What are the highlights for you . Angelo on our end, this is not really a surprise to us. At the end of the day, delivery bookings came significantly ahead of our expectation, while the mobility business, the ridesharing oriented business continued to run at fairly low levels. We are saying and improving trajectory off the top levels in q2. When you look at the bottomline number. It is roughly end line. Day, we were the looking for an adjusted profitability. By the end of the next year, we believe we can get it by the end of q3 of next year. I think once you hit that point, that will be the next major catalyst for the shares. Emily there are many things that we do not know, including who will be the next president of the United States. We know that this pandemic will continue to potentially, for a next couple of years. What does that mean for the longer term future of the business of uber . Well ridesharing ever recover . Wholo i think depending on you ask, you will get a plethora of different answers. Our view is a bit different than most others in the sense that we do think that some of the recovery within ridesharing will take an enormous amount of time. In lateres that you saw 2019, probably you will not see closer to 2023. I think at the end of the day, to your point, Consumer Behavior and how they approach things, there is need for personal space, it is definitely going to have an impact on the mobility business for a long time. Adjustments to their business, to their cost profile. As soon as they can get to those revenue levels, 50 below some below those15 revenue levels. They should be able to hit more aggressive targets, and the approval you can see and the delivery business. Emily you follow lyft as well. Tot does not have lyfteats billy business. Be tohe weakness of lyft the benefit of uber longerterm . Angelo i think that is a great point and our answer is yes. At the end of the day, these downturns make the market share leaders stronger longerterm prewe do think that at the end of the day, we think that uber will be able to take the market share difference from lyft. Ofly thank you, angelo zino cfra. We appreciate your insights on this show. Coming up, the state of the president ial election is still up in the air. We will go live from wilmington, delaware, for the latest out of the Biden Campaign. We are still waiting for four states. Pennsylvania, north carolina, nevada, georgia. Arizonassuming that goes to the former Vice President. We are also standing by for the secretary of state to give and use comforts the pennsylvania this hour. More from bloomberg after this quick break. Emily welcome back to bloomberg technology, im emily chang in san francisco. Where listening right after pennsylvania secretary of state kathy boockvar, who just started a press conference. She says estate still has votes to count, might be stating the obvious. We are going to listen to this and bring you any headlines as we have them. She has just said, the majority of the votes will be counted by friday. By folks feeling frustrated by lack of results, that is welcome news, and pennsylvania is going to be one to watch. Want to get the latest from Biting Campaign headquarters. Emily wilkins is standing by. I am sure the pennsylvania the Biden Campaign wants to see these pennsylvania votes as much as anyone else. Emily, give us the mood from wilmington tonight . The Biden Campaigns message hasnt really changed. They are still very optimistic that when all the votes are counted, that biden and harris will be declared the winners. They are also urging people to be patient. Biden today was asking people to remain calm. At this is coming as we see protests throughout country, including outside key voting areas. The pencil set the pennsylvania secretary of state just saying they are coming into the home stretch and the majority of votes will be counted by friday. Pennsylvania, ting while it would be nice for the Biden Campaign, they just need one more state. Anything, right . Emily that is true. Ap and fox news called arizona for biden. If you put that in his column, he only needs six more electoral votes. That could be delivered to him just three nevada alone. Pennsylvania is an additional 20 p or that could really put him over the top. So the Biden Campaign is keeping their eyes on numerous states, and we have seen a lot of those states report pallets today, but it is not at the point where we can make a definitive call. These are so, so close, and it just takes time to count the absentee ballots, because there were so many of them that your. Emily secretary of state kathy boockvar, saying they are still hundreds of thousands of balanced account, and how the majority will be counted by friday, the closer the race, the longer it takes. What can you tell us about Biden Campaign communications with Elections Officials in various states . We have seen President Trump filing various lawsuits in various states, some of the lawsuits already rejected. We havent heard much from the Biden Campaign, but we know they must be in constant medication with Elections Officials. Biden campaign is absolutely ready for legal action. They have an army of thousands of lawyers that they have in numerous states where these legal battles are happening. They have a Legal Defense fund that is ready to go, they have been asking supporters to continue to donate to the campaign to make sure they can finance these legal battles, and i think a lot of what the Biden Campaign is going to do is going to depend on the Trump Campaign lawsuits. It will be unclear exactly how much of this will be decided in the courts, but you are right, we have legal cases going on in a number of key states, michigan, pennsylvania, georgia. The Trump Campaign said today they filed suit in nevada as well. Wilkins ofemily bloomberg government, in wilmington delaware wilmington, delaware, at biden headquarters. We will continue to watch are covered throughout the night, emily. I want to talk about the relationship of what the u. S. China relationship is good to look like under the next administration, whether a trump or Biden Administration. ,e are joined now by amy celico Albright Stonebridge principal. Perhaps the most important relationship the United States as with any country, and under President Trump, it has been frosty air then it has been in decades than it has been in decades. What would a biden presidency mean for the u. S. China relationship . Amy given how close the election is here at home, it is going to be tougher for a Biden Administration to change the ofrse, the trajectory increasing tensions in u. S. China relations coming even if it wanted to. We have long anticipated that a Biden Administration would continue to be tough on china in a number of ways, human rights, National Security, but just would operate with a different strategy and tactics. And i think that given the closeness of the race and the fact democrats arent going to take back the senate, are unlikely to take back the senate, this means that there is going to be continued pressure on a Biden Administration to remain as tough as the Trump Administration has been. Emily so if trump remains in office, what does that mean . Amy i think it would be a continuation of much of what we have seen over the past year, and that is really this drumbeat of unilateral action against china that is meant to target chinese behavior, as well as slow chinas development, its ability to use american technology, the american market, to assist the government to continue to grow. And increasingly, the Trump Administration, which hasnt been very strategic in its foreign policy, i would say, is going to have to continue to ask allies and partners to get tough on china, along with it. And that is a tougher thing for the Trump Administration to do than a perspective Biden Administration. But we are seeing secretary pompeo and other top Leaders Within the administration reaching up to european, australian, canadian, asian partners to get on china the u. S. To follow lead on restricting access to technology as well as financial and trade flows with china. And what will be interesting to can thely, in 2021 is, trump be successful in china is aware of this and china too is ramping up its work to improve relations with south korea, sees, the eu, because it this tougher situation visavis the United States. Interestingy timing, speaking of restrictions, that the Chinese Government halted the public financial, a 30 5 billion ipo. Jack ma, hugely successful chinese entrepreneur behind it. What does that signal to you about the Chinese Governments willingness to engage in the night is eight engage with the United States and compromise . Amy it doesnt bode well, frankly speaking. I think that even prior to this and the ipoment suspension this week just two was to takethe ipo place, it was suspended likely because of some tough words that jack ma made about chinese banks at a conference at the end of october. The Chinese Government, chinese regulators, didnt like that. They didnt like being criticized and chinese banks being criticized by a hugelysuccessful entrepreneur. So they rein him in. Your question, what does that mean for u. S. China relations . Unfortunately, the business the most, those were forwardleaning in continuing to find a way to operate in china, invest in china, they are going to unfortunately, through that event, have more cause for concern about their future in china, when we are seeing just a more state intervention in the chinese market, and the Chinese Communist party really reinforcing that xi jinping and the communist party should be in charge of everything, including the private sector. Emily and what about this ongoing tiktok situation . Even if President Trump isnt reelected, the administration is still moving forward with attempts to ban tiktok from the United States. Do you think of joe biden was in the white house, he would start walking that back . Cmy yeah, that and the we hat van were both executive orders of the trump wechat orders of the Trump Administration, that was for National Security, that was the goal of those executive orders, and not the most effective way to deal with this issue. So i do foresee that a Biden Administration would, while absolutely absolutely concerned about National Security implications of a Chinese Company handling u. S. Consumer data come i think a Biden Administration would treat that situation very, very differently than President Trump. Emily fascinating to hear your insights on what is ahead under ,ither scenario, amy celico Albright Stonebridge principal of the chinese practice, a cute. Beating expectations and a carrier crossing a milestone of 100 million customers. We have tmobile Ceo Mike Sievert next. This is bloomberg. Emily former Vice President joe biden has 264 electoral votes, six more and he would have enough to when the president of the United States. A number of states are still in play, georgia, north carolina, nevada, pennsylvania, arizona has been called by the Associated Press and fox news, but other networks have not called it yet. While the president s path to victory is now narrowing, President Trump at 214 electoral votes. We just finished listening to the secretary of state of pennsylvania, who said she believes the majority of votes will be counted by friday. We will be staying tuned. Tuned for more numbers out of pennsylvania come but that is where it stands right now. I want to move quickly on to tmobile, which the burning the earnings estimates and raised forecasts for the year, even as the pandemic crimped store sales. Joining us now is Ceo Mike Sievert. Mike, big milestones for you today. What are the biggest highlights your we should be looking at . Mike thanks, emily could great to see you. Thanks for having me on. I am so proud of the team, and it is fun to come on the show and Say Something so unambiguously great. At a time that is just so uncertain right now in the world and in the markets, tmobile just delivered the biggest growth quarter in our history with 2 million net adds in a single quarter, more than at t and verizon combined. And we beat everyone of the financial estimates and raised guidance across the board, so it is a terrific performance, showing the flexibility of our team. And more importantly, the strength of our ability to unlock synergies and use those synergies to invest in growth. Emily it has been quite a journey for you, mike. I have been covering many years of it. Weaking of the uncertainty, have a president ial election in play, i know that you follow politics quality follow politics closely end up curious, what is your message to employees and customers, looking like joe is in the lead . Mike i was out this week with a message for my employees just because of the reasons you talked about. People are so anxious. It doesnt matter which side of the political spectrum you are on, this is a nexus time and people are anxious on both sides of the divide. At tmobile, it is great for our people to her into something that unites us. And at tmobile, our culture is so strong and what brings us together is the way we come together to support our customers. We have the highest net promoter scores in the history of this country, tripling the score and comes to Customer Service over sprint just since taking over in april. That binds our team together. It is right to be something bigger than yourself. For our tmobile employees, jumping into our work right now is a great thing. Emily that said, tmobile went from the number for carrier to the numbertwo carrier with the backing of the Trump Administration. What would a Biden Administration mean for you . Aboutwell, if you think our progress during the obamaBiden Administration, we did great. We executed our entire turnaround and benefited from some great programs during those years that allowed us to have fair access to spectrum, for example. And to your point, during the Trump Administration, we were able to merge in a highly procompetition, proconsumer merger we have found in both administrations policies that allowed us to execute. And one thing that is consistent over the past eight years, tmobile has been a growth leader in this industry, continually taking share, building a financial future for our stakeholders. So we are ready whichever way it goes. Our company will be wellpositioned. 5gly you have been selling iphones, basically giving them away as part of a promotion. How many people are taking you up on this . And is 5g going to be the big technological trend that it has been touted as for a decade . Mike it has had a great update. People are really excited about the new phones come across the board. So we are excited, because there is a big difference. When you get an iphone from tmobile, you get 5g in a lot of places. People now million covered with 5g, more than 80 end the end horizon combined when you look at geography and our one 4 million square miles. So when you take home an iphone 12 from tmobile, you are really going to see 5g. And in many cases where we have our highcapacity, 30 million pops and counting with highcapacity, you are going to get hundreds of megabits a second end make your friends and neighbors jealous. This will unfold over the year. As we pull further away from the competition, it is going to make the 5g phenomenon more popular with consumers so i see it as something that is certainly affecting this quarter, but it is going to be a big story for 2021. Sprint,s the integration continues, what has been the retention rate for sprint customers . Mike the best yearoveryear turn in the industry, 0. 9, down from way higher a year ago, mostly because of sprint. Earning year ago was 2. 0 or higher and now blended with tmobile and sprint, it is a 0. 9, the biggest yearoveryear gain in the industry. At yet, it is still a tailwind for investors because we were able to deliver all that Financial Performance this quarter with a churn rate that still has room to run. And your point, it is due to sprint customers being blended to who are getting experience the tmobile network, the tmobile offers, the tmobile customer experience. They are liking what they see and they are staying in record numbers. Emily before you go, a few months ago, you made a point of pulling adsile was from the Tucker Carlsen show on fox news after he made racist remarks. Im curious, as we wait for the results of an incredibly contentious president ial election, what is your approach going to be in terms of social issues and business . Because we are seeing a divided silicon valley, where some ceos are saying we shouldnt talking about these things at work. We are not pro or against any partys philosophy. Once in a wild vr pro or against values that get expressed, very specific words. That was the case there. Has 80,000pany employees from every walk of life. And one of the important values in our company is a root equity and equality and inclusion, so we speak up for that. A nonpartisan are company. We love this country we serve. Love our customers. We have customers from every political affiliation and walk of life, and we have employees from the same. So it is important we are not taking sides. But we do have values. And it is not partisan for me to stand up and say we believe in equality and inclusion and equity. And we are proud of that. Ceo mike sievert , thanks. President joe biden is in the lead with 206 before electoral votes President Trumps path to victory is narrowing. We are just hearing president will deliver remarks about 40 minutes from now, 6 30 p. M. Eastern time. Meantime, twitter flagged a tweet moments ago from donald trump, jr. Urging total war over this election. Whombergs kurt wagner, covers twitter for us talk about how they platform is monitoring postelection chaos. This is bloomberg. Emily President Trump will deliver an address at 6 30 p. M. Eastern time. We will be listening in on that. Meantime, twitter just flagged a tweet from donald trump junior, urging the public to go to total war over the selection. Twitter put that tweet behind a warning. Reporterer, bloomberg who covers twitter, tell us what happened. Kurt i think the tweet has two violations. You mentioned total war. Of the calls the results Election Fraud and cheating. Im wondering if twitter might remove this if the total war reference could be seen as a call to violence. But we have now seen flags from the president and both his sons, eric trump and don jr. Clearly, the trump family is very frustrated at they continue to break further rules. At twitter is calling them on it. Emily looking at the president s twitter page right now, we see multiple tweets flagging just left for young street you also have reporting that twitter, if the president loses the election, will start treating them differently when he is out of office. The unitedesident of states, he falls into this very special category of users. And hes basically treated differently. When he violates a rule, instead of removing the tweet, usually it just gets a warning label. That policy does not apply to former world leaders. So if you were to lose the election, when he is no longer president , he would no longer be in this special group. And if he would break the rules again, he would be treated in the same way you or i would, which could mean things like a orporary suspension, certainly taking the tweet down, which are things he hasnt had to deal with as president. Emily facebook has banned a group called stop this deal, which quickly racked up more than 300,000 supporters. Someone pointed out yesterday that they thought facebook and twitter made it through their election test, but isnt the test still happening . Kurt it was probably me who said they made it through the election test. At the test is absolutely still happening. I think those companies knew that this was going to drag up until there was a decision made, and even after that, until there is a transition of power, if that is what happens, there is going to be people out there who want to spread disinformation to delegitimize the election, including the president. This is not something that is going to be over until certainly days, weeks, probably months at this point. Emily for the record, it was dan ives who said it, if you said it as well. I appreciate the backpack the backtracking. Test iswith you, the still in on it is important how facebook and twitter deal with this in the days ahead. Lugo bloombergs kurt wagner, thank you. Are,g stock of where we jill biden has 200 64 electoral votes, President Trump 214, a number of states in play, georgia, nevada, north carolina. No more updates until tomorrow. And arizona, according to a number of networks, still in play. Stay tuned to bloomberg television. Australiadaybreak is up next. That does it for this special on election 2020. Im emily chang. This is bloomberg. [ sigh ] not gonna happen. Thats it. Im calling kohler about their walkin bath. My name is ken. How may i help you . Hi, im calling about kohlers walkin bath.
