So sure, you have to address it. Frankly, there are probably more people watching the Weather Channel tonight than watching the convention. David dont say that, rick, thats a little cold. The president ordered the National Guard, more National Guard today, and now the nba is suspending games and some major league suspended, too. Absolutely, and im curious to see how the campaign decides to address this tonight. And of course the Vice President is going to be speaking on law and order, and its going to be interesting to see how they thread this needle. Donald trump has been very critical of people kneeling for the pledge of allegiance. Needle, hey thread this and they want to keep the country safe, which is the argument they are going to make, and they want to be sensitive to people who are dealing with the scourge of Police Violence against africanamericans. And i need to correct myself, i said mr. Blake was dead, and hes not dead. He was paralyzed but he is in the hospital. Our best witches are our best wishes are with him and his family at this time. Hasshooting of jacob blake led to violent protest, and late today nba players refused to play tonight in solidarity with the protest. The nba playoffs were suspended and its spreading to nationally baseball. Mario, thanks for joining us. How is the white house wracking so far to what is going on, both with the shooting and its the latest. D also mario the president sit tweets out saying he was sending federal troops or Law Enforcement to kenosha, wisconsin. He also used that opportunity to repeat an attack he has lobbed against other Democratic Leaders where he said all they have to do is ask him for help and he did inme in like he minneapolis earlier this summer. David do we expect the Vice President to address the issue tonight . Mario we got word that the Vice President will at least reference the unrest thats going on in kenosha. Its hard for the white house took nor, given the National Attention on this issue, but also in terms of law and order and safety. Headline thate a President Trump is arriving at fort mchenry. President trump will be there with the Vice President. Jeanne i guess thats his appearance for the night for the convention. Mario, as President Trump run into any difficulty, i hear what youre saying with how they want to use this to their advantage, but he also is the incumbent president. Is what happens in kenosha, wisconsin come of that is a state that he is governing. How does he indeed explained what he has done over the last 3. 5 years to address the problems with policing that these protesters are talking about . Frankly, its one of the soft spots in his presidency right now that theyve been trying to shore up in terms of the speakers weve seen come out of the convention to talk about some of his issues on race and trying to shore those weaknesses up in the minds of voters. Also, this is something that has kind of dog the president in the summer. Its a twin crisis hes dealt with that has ravaged him in the polls. Thats been the coronavirus pandemic and the racial unrest. Something definitely that is tricky territory for the president right now. Ack i think he is making concerted gamble where he is choosing to be the law and order guy, hoping the suburban voters that he desperately needs are afraid of the unrest spilling out of the cities and into the suburbs, yet at the same time, the Biden Campaign is trying to find a different way to talk about it where they create engagement and unity, thus giving comfort to the suburbs that there is a solution to it that doesnt include troops. So this is really a fault line in this campaign. I dont anticipate the trump people taking any change to that position, but it is a real gamble for them to think that the law and order message is going to appeal to those suburban voters. Mario he has really dug in on that message for the better part of the summer, and the polls at least, the voters dont seem to be too comfortable with that approach. But i would note that coming out of the Convention Last week, polls have shown that biden has gotten the bumpy expected to get out of the convention and theres also little bit of narrowing the gap in the suburbs. So the president may or may not it may not be panning out. David mario parker has been with us throughout these conventions. Not just wisconsin is the news, its also what is going on down on the gulf coast. Hurricane laura is barreling toward the elf coast with winds of 150 miles an hour. That makes it a category for storm but is just shy of category 5. Experts say it could end up being the most powerful storm ever to hit louisiana. Craig fugate eight is the former fema administrator under president obama. Welcome, craig. Really good to have you with us. Give assistance of how bad this hurricane looks right now. Craig about as bad as it gets. Storm surge in a very vulnerable area along the texas and louisiana coast, high winds, already seeing tornadoes coming on shore, and this will be occurring all night into the morning. With stormaling surge but a lot of Power Outages and disruption and damaging winds. Sense of you have any the extent to which they been successful in evacuating . Craig weve been trying to convince people that covid is bad, but drowning is worse. You need to move to higher ground. Some areas will get 20 feet or more of water under normal high tides. David this is going to cost a lot of money. The number seems to be going up every day at with more going on. Its going to cost more for the federal government to take care of the problem. These using a lot of emergency funds already for some of the executive orders President Trump put out for example to help the unemployed . Enough for will have the response, and if fema requires more money, congress will do a supplemental. My concern right now is really the life safety. I dont think we should worry about fema running out of money in its response. We need to focus on lifesaving right now. David is there anything we could be doing to get ready for these . Storms in advance it seems like they are coming more frequently. As we think about infrastructure and possibly investing in infrastructure, we need to Start Building to our future risk, not our past history. Keep we need to bill the way it is, not the way it was. Rick on this issue of preparation, i know that a lot of replacements in the gulf coast of fema assets, have they been rallied already to be put in place before the storm hits, or were they waiting to see what route it was going to take . Craig theyve been moving. In fact, search and rescues rescue teams are on the way for my home state of florida. Nobody waits for the storm to hit to assess how bad it is, but you have to move close enough to be where you can be in their louisiana, ting texas and their teams, fema and other states have been mobilizing now for the last couple of days and are now moving so they can respond quickly as the storm starts moving out of that area. Jeanne you mentioned the issue of infrastructure, we havent seen any movement over the last several years, despite the fact that both parties seem to agree that we need a massive infrastructure investment. We havent seen that. So what would you like to see, what should we be asking congress to do in the president to sign as these hurricanes and storm seem to be coming to more places and we dont seem prepared infrastructure wise to handle that. Derecho hitting iowa, wildfires in the west. The current infrastructure was not built for todays environment. In many cases it hasnt even been maintained for what we used to consider normal standards. Its time america makes some Big Investments in infrastructure. It would be a great way to puttingt the economy, people back to work on construction jobs and putting our industries back to work building the equipment and tools we need to do those jobs. Have massive wildfires in california right now. His 325 thousand acres north of san francisco. Seem to be coming faster and faster and bigger and bigger. This goes back to our building codes and how we building these areas with all the interface between the wild and building homes. We have so much built infrastructure now, while far wildfires are one and floods or another. We really need to change how we think about how and where we build. So were not having to spend tax dollars cleaning up after the mess, and we minimize the impacts were seeing from these disruptions in our weather patterns that are not based on the last 100 years. We keep setting records each year with these extreme weather events. David thank you so much, craig u. K. , former fema administrator under president obama and chief Emergency Management officer at one concern. Talk about going back to the situation in kenosha, its just cross the bloomberg that the reds and brewers game has been scheduled prethats part of the doubleheader tomorrow. Major League Baseball says they will make it up. We are waiting the remarks of a civil rights activist who participated in the greensboro sit ins back some 60 years ago today. And President Trump is not the only one vernon jones yesterday saying the same thing. Jeanne the Republican Party in the campaign has done a good job of trying to make the case, the democrats have been saying the party of the president is racist, and joe biden got into the race because of what happened in charlottesville. Theyre trying very hard to counter that, that this is another speech that is part of the sort of attempt to do that. Make, theve points to president s investment in historically black colleges and universities is one of the high points that they talk an awful lot about. So it is an interesting point to hear, but the question is, who are they trying to appeal to . It is usually suburban voters who want coverage. Rick i dont think President Trump thinks hes going to get the majority of africanamerican voters in november. Give us some sense of where george w. Bush, how they did with africanamericans as opposed to donald trump. The trading ranges anywhere from low single digits, which is what john mccain running against barack obama, to 11 12 . The reality is that you really dont want to give up all that turf as a political party. You want to try to make inroads. Trump has done some symbolic beings that would give him some credit in that community, but you cant miss what is happening today. You mentioned the brewers game wnba, andended, the other major League Baseball games have been shut down today. Soccer and tennis, as way of showing support for a broader social justice reconciliation in our country. So when you have society moving at this pace, if you want to not get on the wrong side of history, youve got to move along with it. Has a President Trump little bit of history with professional sport leagues, remember how he came out against during about kneeling the national anthem. It will be interesting to see what he does in this circumstance. As we wait for the civil rights activists. Among most of coronary was a civil rights we went. 60 years ago, segregation was legal and enforced. A simple act of sitting at a lunch counter could lead to physical harm, jail time, or worse. Experience, personal walking into a Woolworths Department store on february 2, 1960, i knew it was unlike any day i had experienced before. My friends had been denied service the day before because of the color of their skin. We knew it wasnt right. But when we went back the next day, i didnt know whether i was going to come out in a vertical or prone position, in handcuffs, or on a stretcher. Or even in a body bag. By sitting down to order a cup of coffee, we challenged injustice. We knew it was necessary, but we didnt know what would happen. We faced down the kkk. We were cursed at and called all kinds of names. They threatened to kill us, and some of us were arrested. But it was worth it. Our actions inspired similar protests throughout the south against racial injustice. And in the end, segregation was abolished, and our country moved a step closer to true equality for all. , peacefult actual protest can accomplish. America isnt perfect. We are always improving. But the great thing about this country is its not where you come from, its where you are going. I was born on what someone called the wrong side of the tracks. I dont even have a birth certificate. I never attended an integrated school, and am the only one out of my immediate family who graduated from college, at hbcu. Im a military veteran and a civil rights activist. And you know what else . Im a republican, and i support donald trump. That sounds strange, you dont know your history. It was the Republican Party that passed the 13th amendment abolishing slavery. It was the Republican Party that passed the 14th amendment, giving blackman citizenship. It was the Republican Party that passed the 15th amendment giving black men the right to vote. Freedom of thought is a powerful thing. There are americans, voters all over the country who the media is trying to convince to conform to the same old democratic talking points. You know what that will get you . The same all results. Joe biden had the audacity to say if you dont vote for him, you aint black. Well, to that, i say if you do vote for biden, you dont know history. Donald trump is not a politician. He is a leader. Politicians are a dime a dozen. Leaders are priceless. Through the record numbers of jobs he created for the black community and the investment into our neighborhoods with tax incentives and opportunity zones. So are the lives restored by passing criminal justice reform, where 91 of the inmates released our black. These achievements demonstrate that donald trump truly cares about black lives. His policy show his heart. He has done more for black americans in four years than joe biden has done in 50. Donald trump is offering real an lasting change, and unprecedented opportunity to rise. A country that embraces the spirit of the Civil Rights Movement of the 1960s, a place where people are judged by the content of their character, their talents and abilities, not by the color of their skin. This is the america i was fighting for 60 years ago. This is the America Donald trump is fighting for today. Lets all join in this fight and reelect President Trump on november 3. Thank you. Henderson, civil rights activist who participated in the greensboro sit ins back in the 1960s. Rick davis and jeannie are still here. Give us some insight from your perspective in this relationship with the Republican Party and African Americans. Is a complicated one and perhaps more nuanced than we realized. Henderson made a number of true comments. Were loyale republicans in the 1800s and early 1900s. Up until about the 1950s, blacks were still voting in large numbers with the Republican Party. Urbancks migrated to cities, more blacks voted with democrats. Especially when Martin Luther kings father, who was a republican, got the call from john kennedy when his son was in prison in 1960 and decided to support john kennedy in that Campaign Come that was probably the First Campaign where majority of africanamericans voted democrat. And of course we know since then , is not unusual for african go to theto Democratic Party and we saw that in the last election cycle and may happen in this one, although these kind of speeches at the convention from incredible people are likely to shave off a few Percentage Points and give president , President Trump maybe 11 or 12 which is significant. Jeanne its great to see you. , they havesk you made a concerted push the last couple of days of this convention and certainly today to make the push that donald trump has been making for some time, that what he has done has been good for African Americans. They talk about unemployment, the criminal justice act certainly when the highlights of his work, his investment in hsbc. What do you think the Republican Party needs to do . We remember that famous report where they said we need to reach out. You just made the case they probably wont get where they need to be this election cycle. What can the Republican Party do to reach out and attract more africanamerican support at this point, if not in this election cycle Going Forward . Certainlyy and conversation and inclusion will have a lot to do with any largescale change in terms of andesentation in the party the support of more people of color in the party. Youve got tim scott who gave a guy great speech monday night , certainly to a number of africanamericans. His experience of life is typical of the experience of many people of color in this country. He has overcome a great deal to become a member of the United States senate. Hes led the fight on a lot of the right issues, including bringing about substantial and. Significant Police Reform youve got some examples of people of color who are credible who are beginning to emerge in the party. But a lot more has to be done. Africanamericans are not likely charlotte n the charlottesville incident. Think that people of color are not going to vote on largescale for the president , although we may see as many as 1314 , and to get that percentage is helpful. Rick this is rick davis out of washington. Just picking up on this, even during your administration, there was a lot of work being done by people like jack kemp who we talked about last night, leading the fight to try to reach out to the Africanamerican Community with his enterprise zones. There always has seem to be a good foothold of the Republican Party in the black community, but weve never been able to make any progress with it. Is it lack of continuity over time . You mention reaction to things like the charlottesville marches that set us back certainly as a party in the last couple of years. But where along the path did we go wrong, that we couldnt open up that dialogue with the Africanamerican Community better . Joe its something that takes time, and it takes leadership. There are people of color who are elected to positions of power and influence. The in the 1960s you had africanamerican elected to the United States senate from the state of massachusetts. That was significant for people and youve had that continued growth in the party, certainly among the leadership. Likeave certainly more republican members of the house of representatives. I got past the primary but didnt get past the general election. The republicans can target people of color in districts and get them elected to office, that will certainly be helpful. Ofve had a number people color, allen west, but you need larger numbers of people of color. You need light u. S. Senators and black governors as well, black chief executives as well. People of color in positions of leadership that have a chance to make statement on behalf of the party, you may see some changes develop. David its always great to have you with us. Thanks so much. We will check in on the convention right now. Former ambassador to germany as well as an acting director, lets listen to a little bit of what he has to say. The american tradition of helping the president elect transition into the white house, they tried instead to undercut him even more. Vice President Joe Biden ask intelligence officials to uncover the Hidden Information on President Trumps Incoming National security advisor three weeks before the inauguration. Thats the democrats. Between surveillance, classification, leeks and puppet candidates, they never want the merc and people to know who is actually calling the shots. But with donald trump, you always know exactly who is in charge. You. Se the answer is you are in charge. Not lobbyist, not special interests, not warmongers or china sympathizers or globalization fanatics. The donald trump and mike pence in the white house, the boss is the American People. President trump rightly calls his Foreign Policy america first. America first does not advance the interests of one group of americans at the expense of another. It has no bias about red or blue, educated or not educated, urban or rural. America first formerwe been listing to Ambassador Richard grenell payment now we want to go over to asia. There have been developments as china today fired for Ballistic Missiles into the South China Sea as part of a military exercise there. Stephen engle has the latest. What is the reaction over there to what seems to be increased military tension in the South China Sea . Stephen absolutely, of course the chinau. S. Relation is a focal point of the election in the United States. I ame it firsthand here or in hong kong. You have to decide whether is this military provocation, or is it more an example of what election era theater . Regardless, its on a dangerous stage here, because what weve learned from the u. S. Military is that you the Chinese Military in these exercises in the South China Sea, fired for mediumrange Ballistic Missiles, including, we are hearing, a df carrier missile that was fired from the mainland of china into the South China Sea. Provocative indeed. Separately, we are also hearing that the u. S. Has announced trade and visa restrictions coming from the Commerce Department and the secretary state on 24 Chinese Companies that the u. S. Says is tied to the pla, the Peoples Liberation army expansion in the South China Sea. 24 Companies Added to this entities list, and wilbur ross saying the entities designated today have played a significant role in chinas provocative construction of the Artificial Island and must be held accountable. Separately, the state department as well once hsbc held accountable for what they say is limiting freedoms for its account holders here in hong kong. A completely separate issue, but again part of the political theater between china and the United States. David thank you for that great reporting, stephen engle. Lets find out how the asian markets react to all this from sophie kamaruddin. Sophie were seeing imager risk off moves amid the ongoing u. S. China tension. Chinese doctor fluctuating with a benchmark under pressure but off session lows. Chinese stocks are fluctuating. Rising virus cases remain a big concern in asia. , cutting losing ground the gdp forecast. The governor saying in his press briefing that it will be maintain. The hang seng off the most in a week with hsbc shares among the biggest rags. The appetite has not dampened chinese adr, expanding has priced its up sized u. S. We have the latest update on Chinese Industrial profits jumping the most and two years in july most in two years and a july. Two years in july. David thank you so much to sophie kamaruddin. We are waiting for Vice President mike pence who is slated to begin speaking in couple minutes. We want to bring back in our contributors, ricky davis and jeannie zeno. What does the Vice President need tonight . Rick he is going to continue some of the messaging tonight. The great heroes of our nation are the men and women in service. He has a son in the service. Thing forvery natural the Vice President to do. The also has a job that he also has a job to do. That is going after joe biden. The typical role of the Vice President s speech is to take a baseball bat and swing wildly. We will wait and see what Vice President pants does. David this is a Vice President pence does. David i do not associate mike pence with being an attack dog. Jeanne that is not the personality that we know. It is certainly the role he is in. He is the chairman of the Coronavirus Task force. We have not heard an awful lot about that. Will be interesting to hear how he defends that. That is where the president is trailing in the polls. I think we are going to hear mike pence say they have done a good job and that he has led the effort under the direction of the president. David something we have been talking about, whether he refers to kenosha and the suspension of games in the nba and mlb as well. Rick you have to pay some attention to the front page of the newspaper on the day of your convention. Even though they are brushing past the coronavirus issue and saying that is under control, this one is not he under control. David we are watching Vice President mike pence walking into fort mchenry. That is in baltimore with 1812 battle occurred as Francis Scott key wrote the poem that gave rise to the lyrics of the starspangled banner. A live crowd there. Waving to the crowd as they applaud. A standing ovation from the crowd for the Vice President of the United States and his wife. They should be beginning any moment now after a brief moment of affection. Here he is. Vice president pence. [applause] [chanting four more years] america. Vening, it is an honor to speak to you tonight from the hallowed grounds of fort mchenry. The site of the very battle that inspired the words of our national anthem. Those words have inspired this land of heroes in every generation since. It was on this site 206 years ago when our young republic heroically withstood a ferocious naval bombardment from the most powerful empire on earth. They came to crush our revolution, to divide our nation , and to end the american experiment. The heroes who held this fort took their stand for life, liberty, freedom, and the american flag. Those ideals have defined our nation. But they were hardly ever mentioned at last weeks Democratic National convention. Instead, democrats spent four days attacking american. Joe biden said that we were living through a season of darkness. Wheresident trump said, joe biden sees american darkness , we see american greatness. [applause] in these challenging times, our country needs a president who believes in america, who believes in the boundless capacity of the American People to meet any challenge, to defeat any foe and defend the freedoms we hold dear. America needs four more years of President Donald Trump in the white house. Before i go further, allow me to say word to the families and communities in the path of hurricane laura. Our prayers are with you tonight. Our administration is working closely with authorities in the state that will be impacted. Fema has mobilized resources and supplies for those in harms way. This is a serious storm. We urge all those in the affected areas to heed state and local authorities. Stay safe and know that we will be with you in every step of the way to support, rescue, respond and recover in the days and weeks ahead. That is what americans do. [applause] four years ago, i answered the call to join this ticket because i knew that donald trump had a dership and division to and the vision to make but get up every day and fight to keep the promises he made to the American People. So with gratitude for the confidence President Donald Trump has placed in me, the support of the Republican Party, and degrees of god, i humbly accept and the grace of god, i humbly accept your nomination to serve as Vice President of the United States. [applause] serving the American People in this office has been a journey i never expected. It is a journey that would not have been possible without the support of my family. Beginning with my wonderful wife, karen. [applause] she is a lifelong schoolteacher, an incredible mother to our three children. And she is one outstanding second lady of the United States. I am so proud of you. [applause] proud could not be more of our three children. Marine corps captain michael j pence and his wife, sarah. [applause] daughter, charlotte pence author and wife to henry von who is henry serving the nation in the United States navy. And our youngest, a recent law school graduate, our daughter, aubrey and her fiance, who like so many other americans, had to delay their wedding. We cannot wait for dan to be a part of our family. [applause] addition, my wife and kids, the person who shaped my life the most is also with us tonight. My mom, nancy. [applause] she is the daughter of an irish immigrant. 87 years young. And mom follows politics very closely. , sometimes, iold think i am actually her second favorite candidate on the trump pence ticket. Thank you, mom. I love you. Years, i havefour had the privilege to work closely with our president. I have seen him when the cameras are off. C president in lots of different ways americans see President Trump in lots of different ways. He sees america for what it is, a nation that does more good than any other. A nation that deserves farmer gratitude been grievance deserves farmer gratitude then grievance. If you want a president who falls silent when our heritage is demeaned or insulted, he is not your man. [applause] by very different routes to this partnership. Some people think we are a little bit different. I have learned a few things wanting. With all thateal we have been through the past four years. He does things in his own way on his own terms. Not much gets past him. Opinion, he is liable to share it. He certainly has kept things interesting. But more importantly, President Donald Trump has kept his word to the American People. [applause] in a city known for talkers, President Trump is a doer. Few president s have brought more independence, energy or determination to that office. Four years ago, we inherited a military hollowed out by devastating mill devastated budget cuts. An economy struggling to break out of the slowest economy since the Great Depression. Controlled a landmass twice the size of pennsylvania. We witnessed the steady assault of our most cherished values, freedom of religion and the right to life. That is when donald trump stepped in. From day one, he kept his word. We rebuilt our military. [applause] signed theent largest increase in our National Defense since the days of Ronald Reagan and crated the first new branch of our armed forces in 70 years, the United States space force. [applause] and with that, renewed energy. We also returned american astronauts to space on american not an american rocket for the first time in nearly 10 years. [applause] after years of scandal, that robbed our veterans of the care that you earned in the uniform of the United States, President Trump kept his word again. We reformed the v. A. And veterans choice is now available for every veteran in america. [applause] our armed forces and our eurosns fill this land of and many joins us to and many join us tonight. Tonight, we have among us four recipients of the middle of honor. [applause] six recipients of the purple heart. [applause] star medal of a gallant navy seal. Wounded warriors from soldier strong, a group that serves our injured veterans everyday. We are honored by your presence and we thank you for your service. [applause] with heroes just like these, we defend this nation everyday. Under this commanderinchief, we have taken the fight to radical islamic terrorists on our terms on their soil. Last year, American Armed forces took the last inch of isis territory, crushed their caliphate and took down their leader without one american casualty. [applause] and i was there. When President Trump gave the order to take out the worlds most dangerous terrorist, irans top general will never harm an american never harm another american because cost them soleimani is gone. [applause] my fellow americans, you deserve to know joe biden criticized President Trump following those decisions. Decisions to rid the world of two terrorist leaders. Becauset surprising history records that joe biden even opposed the operation that took down osama bin laden. It is no wonder that the under theof defense Obama Biden Administration once been, hat joe biden has and i quote, wrong on nearly every major Foreign Policy and National Security issue over the past four decades. So we have stood up to our enemies. We have stood with our allies. Like when President Trump kept his word and moved the American Embassy to jerusalem, the capital of the state of israel, setting the stage for the first arab country to recognize israel in 26 years. [applause] closer to home, we appointed more than 200 conservative judges to our federal courts, we supported the right to life, and all of god given liberties enshrined in our constitution including the Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms should when asked bear arms. When it came to the economy, President Trump kept his word and then some. We passed the largest tax reform in american history. We rollback more federal redtape than any administration ever had. We unleashed American Energy and fought for free and fair trade. In our first three years, businesses large and small created more than 7 million good paying jobs including 500,000 manufacturing jobs all across america. [applause] our country became a net exporter for the first time in 70 years. Unemployment rates for African Americans and hispanic americans hit the lowest level ever recorded. On this 100th anniversary, of a womans right to vote, i am proud to report that under President Donald Trump, we achieved the lowest on implement rate for women in 65 years. [applause] americans worth it than ever before. We want the greatest economy in the world we built the greatest economy in the world. We made America Great again. [applause] and then, the coronavirus struck from china. Before the first case of the Coronavirus Spread within the United States, the president took unprecedented action and suspended all travel from china, the second largest economy in the world. That action saved untold american lives. I can tell you firsthand, it bought us in valuable time to launch the greatest National Mobilization since world war ii. President trump marshaled the full resources of our federal government from the outset. He directed us to forge a Seamless Partnership with governors across america in both political parties. We partnered with private industry to reinvent testing and produce supplies that were distributed to hospitals around the land. Today, we are conducting more than 800,000 tests a day and we have coordinated the delivery of billions of pieces of personal protective equipment for our amazing doctors, nurses and health care workers. [applause] we saw to the manufacturer 100,000 ventilators in 100 days. No one who required a ventilator was ever denied a ventilator in the United States. [applause] hospitals. Surged military medical personnel. Speak, we are developing a growing number of treatments known as therapeutics including convalescent plasma that are saving lives all across america. Said that joe biden no miracle is coming. What joe does not seem to understand is that america is a nation of miracles. [applause] report we are to on track to have the worlds first safe, effective Coronavirus Vaccine by the end of this year. [applause] sacrifice, in this yearly canoe other, year like no other, and all the hardship, we are finding our way forward again. Hearts are with all the families of lost loved ones. And have family members to struggling with serious illness. In this country, we mourn with those who mourn. We grieve with those who grieve. That notight, i know and this night, i know that millions of americans will pause and pray for gods comfort for each of you. Throughtry does not get such a time unless its people find strength within. The response of doctors, nurses, first responders, farmers, factory workers, truckers and Everyday Americans who put the health and safety of their has been nothing short of hero look of heroic. [applause] as put on her scrubs every day. Day in and day out, went to work in one of new york citys busiest hospitals. She stayed on the job. Put in the long hours until it was done. And then, got back in our neighborhood and helped neighbors and friends struggling. William, is a new york city firefighter. And they are both emblematic of heroes across this country. Tonight. With us i say to them and to all of you, you have earned the admiration of the American People and we will always be grateful for your service and care. [applause] thanks to the courage and compassion of the American People, we are slowing the spread. We are protecting the vulnerable. We are saving lives. And we are opening up american again. Because of the Strong Foundation that President Trump poured in our first three years, we have already gained back 9. 3 million jobs in the last three months alone. [applause] we are not just opening up america again. We are opening up americas schools. And i am proud to report that my wife, karen, that School Teacher i have been married to, will be returning to her classroom next week. And so to all of our heroic teachers and faculty and staff, thank you for being there for our kids. We are going to stay with you every step of the way. [applause] in the days ahead as we open up america again, i promise you, we will continue to put the health of america first. And as we work to bring this economy back, we all have a role to play. And we all have a choice to make. On november 3, you need to ask yourself, who do you trust to rebuild this economy . A career politician who presided over the slowest economic recovery since the Great Depression or a proven leader who created the greatest economy in the world . The choice is clear. To bring up america all the way back, we need four more years of President Donald Trump in the white house. [applause] [chanting four more years] my fellow americans, we are passing through a time of testing. In the midst of this global pandemic, just as our nation had begun to recover, we have seen violence and chaos in the streets of our major cities. President trump and i will always support the right of americans to peaceful protest. But rioting and looting is not peaceful protest. Tearing down statues is not free speech. And those who do so will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. [applause] week, joe biden did not say one word about the violence and chaos engulfing cities across this country. So let me be clear. The violence must stop. Whether in minneapolis, portland or kenosha, too many euros have denied too many euros have died too many heroes have died defending our freedom. We will have law order on the street of this country for every american of every race and creed and color. [applause] President Trump and i know that the men and women who put on the uniform of Law Enforcement are the best of us. Everyday, when they walk out that door, they consider our lives more important than their own. Dave patrick underwood, an officer in the department of homeland securitys protective service who was shot and killed during the riots in oakland, california. Daves heroism is emblematic of the heroes that serve in blue everyday. We are privileged tonight to be joined by his sister, angela. We say to you, we grieve with your family. Forget ora will never fail to honor officer dave patrick underwood. [applause] the American People know we do not have to choose between supporting Law Enforcement and standing with our africanamerican neighbors to improve the quality of their lives, education, jobs, and safety. And from the first days of this administration, we have done both. And we will keep supporting Law Enforcement and keep supporting our africanamerican and minority communities across this land for four more years. [applause] joe biden says that america is systemically racist and that law has and it in america quote, and implicit bias and bias toward minorities. When asked if you would support cutting funding to Law Enforcement, he responded yes. Joe biden would double down on policies that are leading the violence in americas cities. The hard truth is, you will not be safe in joe bidens america. Under President Trump, we will always stand with those who stand on the thin blue line and we are not going to do you find the police not going to defund the police. Not now, not ever. [applause] my fellow americans, we are passing through a time of testing, but soon, we will come to a time for choosing. Joe biden has referred to himself as a transition candidate. Many are asking, transition to what . Last week, democrats did not talk very much about their agenda. If i were them, i would neither. I would not either. Bernie sanders did tell his followerjo
