All these questions need to be answered, so lets talk about where the bond markets are going. At the moment we are expecting an interesting day and week. Getally, lets move on and the first word news with juliette saly. Tryinge guy, china is to scrap term limits to what xi 2023. Ng rule beyond a constitutional provision bars the head of state for more than two consecutive terms of fice, but the communist party wants to change it. It has sparked a wave of reaction on social media, some comments supportive, others critical and mocking. North Koreas Kim Jongun has indicated he may be willing to hold talk to the u. S. , of the white house says it will see if the move represents the first step toward denuclearization. It comes after north korean delegates attending the closing ceremony of the Winter Olympics standing near a ivanka trump, and telling the south korean president at times should develop tween them, pyongyang, and washington. The Uks Labour Party has said it wants britain to seek a new customs agreement with the European Union after brexit. Leader Jeremy Corbyn is set to flesh out the details of the decision in a speech today. That piles pressure on Prime Minister theresa may, by leaving her at the mercy of rebels in her own conservative party, who also want to deal with the bloc. The former italian Prime Minister, matteo renzi, is urging politicians on all sides to combat violence ahead of next weekends elections after street battles between far left and far right activists. At a rally in rome, he says the clashes cast a shadow over the campaign, and sparked memories of the 1970s and 1980s when italy was scarred by motivated extremists. It is important for everyone not for a single fight to be here, to be against criminal violence. Because todaypy was a good day for roma, for italy. Juliette global news, 24 hours a day, powered by over 2700 journalists and analysts in more than 120 countries. This is bloomberg. Guy . Guy thanks, juliette. Treasury yields have retreated wem last years highs as await the first remarks from the new fed governor, Jerome Powell. And now weworn in, understand what he will be saying. He is the fed chair, not just the governor. Goldman sachs stocks plunged around 25 as the treasury yields hit 4. 5 . Joining us from singapore is mark cranfield, our mliv strategist. Morning. 4. 5 , that is a big move up from where we are now. So maybe we will get a big market reaction. This feels like a big tail risk to me but maybe it should be a small tail risk. Good morning. 4. 5 from where we are today in the 10 year they are talking about by the end of the year. That would be extraordinary. If you think of the move in the last six months or so, the 10 year yield has gone up less than 1 which already caused quite a big disruption to equity market. Sosaw about a 10 reversal you can imagine we got more than 150 basis points and im sure the chances of equities in america having a pretty hard landing would be very high. 25 decrease is not unreasonable under those circumstances. There are many people in the same camp. I dont think there are many people in goldmans side yet. Guy no, but it is modeled as a tail risk. An strategy notes have extreme amount of money around Something Like that. The point id like to make is 3 seems pretty hard at the moment. We are struggling with 3 , let alone 4. 5 . I think whats happening is people are beginning to see the Jerome Powell is an experienced central banker. He will not come into the speech this week as a complete person who was never spoken to markets. He knows his words will be carefully watched. He is probably going to take a middleoftheroader view, and markets will probably get a bit of relief. The treasury market in particular has probably overdone it, he will not be as hawkish as people fear. Theres also selling into the u. S. Dollar, which is a signal that hes not going to be anything other than a yesleoftheroad man, and he endorses Interest Rates every quarter, which is not really a big deal compared to what markets have had to deal with so far. Guy do you think we have gone through . Are we now pricing four . We were pricing three, but the market is migrating to four. I have heard some people talking about five now. I dont think four is fully priced in yet, but depending on what he says over the next few days, mr. Powell could tip the balance that way. I think we are just pricing in three, which is already a big shift. A year ago the fed said three hikes in the market was only going to price at 1. 5. So to be pricing in three is quite a big change for the markets anyway. Four would be another big jump. Five is almost out of the question. Guy its a long way. We also get draghi. The momentum around europe is quite interesting at the moment. Does draghi need to win the market back . Does he need to put a more realistic spin on this . Defense seems to be that the ecb is looking at the exit. Im not entirely sure that is whats going on in frankfurt right now. I think you are right. I think theres another opportunity for the man whos is the head of the central bank to rain everything in and take the middleoftheroad approach. Sorts obviously some cour of discord, people are turning hawkish in the ecb. Mr. Draghi will probably say, look, lets be realistic. Theres a long way to go on this process. We have outlined a bond Purchase Plan decreasing over time. We will stick to that plan. There is no need to rush. Rate hikes are a very long way off, we dont need to adjust that, either. Theres no particular reason for mr. Draghi to panic, considering he has a longterm plan, which he can stick with. Also, there in mind that next year he is going to leave ecb, and he may like to see everything kept nice and tidy and calm until everyone knows his successor, which could be a hawk. Guy yeah. Interesting articles being written right now, is a view of the world. Different views in frankfurt. One at ecb, one at bundesbank. Thank you very much. Mark cranfield. Forcan follow the mliv go smart Market Analysis throughout the day. What have we got next . The mobile World Congress opening in barcelona. We have exclusive interviews coming from that event. Chief executives of bush telecom and seat. These things are being merged. What is a car show . What is a tech show . What is a telecom show . The venn diagram is blurred. All of that coming up. The market open is 19 minutes away. Guy 16 minutes until the start of european trading this monday morning. Lets talk about the telco sector and figure out whats going on. Executives are gathering in barcelona for the mobile World Congress. We spoke exclusively to the ceo of Deutsche Telekom about intramarket consolidation. He spoke to Caroline Hyde. Telekom is the biggest european telecommunication operator, and we have 11 markets in europe and intramarket congregation. We have congregation with upc, we are working on accommodation in the netherlands, where we are bringing mobile operators together. This is happening in europe, happening crossborder, and we are focusing on strengths in our position. Then we have the u. S. , which is a new position. We are growing at double digits, 19 quarters in a row. Planned, rea, no m a is more organic growth for the new areas. Caroline what about stopping m a in your home turf . What about liberty global, vodafone . You dont like it, are the regulators listening . I think it is totally unacceptable, this kind of deal, because it has created a new monopoly. It is dominating the tv market, will dominate the housing association, where they have a certain legal privilege. There is even domination in the cable infrastructure, while these guys are unregulated. I think it is totally unfair, and i am asking for fair competition. Caroline analysts think the deal will go through. Its too early to say. I just want to claim that is this deal is going to happen, we have to see a totally different landscape. But we will see when the deal is coming what the authorities might say. Caroline what about the u. S. . You were talking about the fact that there is no deal. What is the future for the United States . Growth is slowing. Totallyve is vented a totallyve invented a negative industry and away, Magenta Telecom has created the ontario proposition and for 19 quarters in a row we have grown at more than one million customers. Caroline but the growth is slowing. The only one gaining growth is us and we have a balance of new Customer Growth and profits and Free Cash Flow we are able to invest. Last year we bought more than 30 of the 600 megahertz spectrum. We need that, getting deep coverage across the country. Million and now we are going to 330 million, and this is a new era for tmobile in the u. S. Caroline will you buy more in that . I think now is the break. We will have spectrum coming at one point in time for new applications, but we have plenty to deploy. We are growing now organically in the market. Caroline tell me about the u. K. You have investments in people she in bt. Isnt brexit a headache . It is a headache. Shares due to the brexit duesion, due to the pound, to the tough regulation environment, we lost some value in depreciated. What they are doing, how they are taking the market, the convergence bringing together a good portfolio of content. I think this is a recipe for success and i in convinced we will see more stock. Guy the ceo of Deutsche Telekom speaking to Caroline Hyde at the mobile World Congress in barcelona. Also for nwc, we will speak to the ceo of seat. The mayor will join us at 8 30 a. M. U. K. Time. Look for that later. 12 minutes away from the market open. Up next, the stocks to watch at the open, including daimler and geely, facing a 3. 7 billion euros stake. What does that mean for the german car company . This is bloomberg. The open is 11 minutes away. Guy nine minutes until the start of trade. Deutsche bank has formally announced its intention to sell shares in its Asset Management division, at the earliest available window. It kicks off a fourweek run into an ipo. Existing shares held indirectly by Deutsche Bank, it doesnt plan to issue new ones. Lets talk to steve out of frankfurt. How does this work with john cryan . Well, its not critical for the capital buffer. However, it is critical to show to investors and the bank, and employees, that he can pull off the strategy he announced a year ago. He has had setbacks, he wanted to grow revenue. That hasnt worked out as planned. So ipoing this Asset Management unit, even ahead of schedule, that is going to be a big show that he has got the ability to leave the bank. Guy what does it mean for the Asset Management unit . The unit hadsaid repeatedly pointed to other Asset Managers partly owned by banks, which have outperformed dws. As an example, it would make sense to at least partially flow to this unit. He said he wants Deutsche Bank to remain the majority shareholder, because it is still good to have a strong bank in the back. But independence from a bank can make strategic decisions, it will have currency for acquisitions. That is something he wants. It does make a big difference for the unit. Guy this is going to happen, right . Or do you think we will get another first of volatility and it will be put off . What about pricing . Well, we have heard people familiar with it say Deutsche Bank hopes to get as much as 2 billion euros for that. They could be a little less, but theres usually a discount in ipos, and some investors have expressed dissatisfaction with the complicated legal structure. Euros, and2 billion in terms of timing, they want it to happen within the next four weeks, but of course if markets crash, then it will be difficult to sell. By not announcing a definite date, they have kept that option open to reschedule. Guy thank you very much. Steven arons joining us out of frankfurt. Minutes away from the open. We have dealt with Deutsche Bank, lets talk about the stocks we are watching. Geely automotive is trading strongly in hong kong, taking a stake in daimler. How will that affect the open . Job eastern joins us from our stock steam. Geely is up strongly. What are we expecting from daimler . Daimler, the maker of mercedes, their stock rose slightly on the trade gate close, which the exchange opened early. We are expecting daimler shares to rise. It is obviously a huge stake, 7. 3 billion euros. But we are expecting daimler shares to rise as well. Guy i wonder if it came as a surprise to deutsches Management Team. Theres a profit warning out, which is interesting. How will the stock take that . It came out very negative, a profit warning. Run,s originally state they suffered very badly from the declining letter volume. Internet and the emergence of a number of new players in the market. Guy id argue they would always make up for that loss of the regular post, from the amazon effect. Really quickly, u. K. Energy supplies. There are new tariff restrictions being imposed which would limit the energy supplies. That should be announced today, a price cut until 2020 should be announced by theresa may. That is very negative for some countries, like british gas, ssc, eds energy that have large shares in the u. K. Market. We will be looking at those stocks today as well. Guy thanks. You can find the rest of what joe is writing about on first go on your bloomberg, and you can find it on your mobile as well. The fair value at the moment points around a. 5 gain for europe this morning, so we will get a positive start to the day. Individual stocks will remain interesting, Deutsche Bank and daimler, people look on them. Keep a lookout on them. Four minutes away. This is bloomberg. Guy the nikkei had a solid session. Following the solid session we had friday, the s p up 1. 6 . The fair values point to a positive start as well. Lets look at what we are expecting in europe. Their individual names out there. Diamond will be one and deutsches will be another. Lydia stocks to watch. The u. K. Energy stocks. , up by 0. 5 . The dax, up by 0. 7 . Lets show you some numbers. Market toecting the open higher. We look at a little bit more from the Market Makers in a moment, up 0. 2 . The ibex, up by 0. 7 . We will look at the spanish z stocks, and break them down. We look at the individual names in the german market. So, we are up, as. 3 topated, 0. 0. 6 . Consumer staples, a little bit of weakness there. The financials look to be trading pretty strongly as well. Deutsche bank, finally coming through. It will be interesting to see how the market digests that one 0. 5 . We are up by about markets are beginning to open a bit more. We now have the ftse working up to the election. As anticipated, up by 0. 5 . Lets look at the move screen. This is the picture at the moment. I think that is ericsson, an entire sector all trading higher. On the downside, the german stocks arent there yet. Downside, bank of ireland, talking about that earlier on daybreak. Foreign sectors trading a little bit softer this morning. Be talking about insurance a little bit later on with phoenix, the aggregation in the center. Lets stop about what we are looking for over the next 24 to 48 hour. European stocks are now open, but anticipating speeches coming up from ecb president mario draghi. And then we move onto the main event, fed chair Jerome Powell. Deliver his first statement to congress, starting tomorrow. The head of rates at aviva investors joins us now. Charlie, equity markets and rates markets are hanging on powells words. We have seen u. S. 10 years move up to about 3 . We have seen jitters within the equity space and it is interesting to see the market looking as this. What are you expecting to see from the pound . Charlie not a lot. If you put your mind back to when yellen took over one fo, the first shot across the bow has always been for continuity, to make sure that people believe in the consistency and ongoing, if you like, reliability of the fed. That does not mean that things will not evolve and change over time, but there is a strong fomc framework already in place. All the regional feds and economists and everything else. They are all of a mindset and are thoroughly trained in their jobs. Going to come and say, i think we are completely missing the point and we are behind the curve and we will raise rates five times this year . No. Guy no, but he could up the ante a little bit. Even a fraction is enough. Just north of 3 would create a little bit of momentum. That is a possibility. Charlie but equally, that would involve moving the dot plot, which is why i am referencing the original feds. They are feeding into the process. Things have not evolved that much since the last meeting. It is the narrative around it in the market that has changed, rather than these guys leaving inflation has taken off. If you look at the january minutes, they were saying inflation was picking up gradually and we continue to see gradual removal of accommodations, a series of g radual rate hikes. Changing. Ee that if we continue to the upside likely sell within the inflation data, then there will be an occasion for the narrative to start changing, but i do not think that happens on day one. Guy do you think we will end up talking about a powell putt . If we end up with aggressive volatility within the equity space, for instance . Does the central bank of the markets back . Charlie tha tis the key question here because the markets have become used to the concept that if there is an issue in the markets, it could defer or delay the fed. As you highlighted earlier, the move you have seen in the bond curve and yields have started to challenge the sentiment in the rest of the market. Orhe sounds too hawkish aggressive, that could push treasuries to 3. 25 or 3. 50. That has to be a problem for a more significant correction. Is that line . When does the switch back to bonds have been an equity point of view . Charlie i think we are starting to get there, but certainly, i believe if we are above 3 it is much more of as when you go for equities, particularly based on current valuations. In terms of the dividend incomes , we are starting to look at the riskfree rate, which starts to look appealing. I think we are not that far from it. Internally we refer to it as the biting point, where is the biting point for these high yields. I do not think we are quite there yet and we have had a warning shot, if you like, from the recent volatility. But i think if we see yields move north of 3 towards then 3. 25 , that starts to be a problem for risk assets. Guy you have a 3 target by year end, dont you . Do you test 3. 25 to finish at 3 . Charlie no, i think it is quite likely, actually, because if you look at the inflation profile, the first half will see the unwind of the one off base effects that occurred last year that drop out of the inflation models. We will see inflation pickup midyear. The different is that in the second half, we start to see them come off for the very same reasons. You are not ending the year with an outrageous inflation level. Youre talking you inflation. Ust above 2 what about what is happening towards the front end of the curve . This is the two year, years anticipation regarding powell. Where am i safest . Give me a kind of outlook for the duration. Where is the best point to be . Charlie that is the right question because if you believe the fed are going to continue to if you like, keep their game faces on so they can keep in inflation at a relatively normal level, around 2 , thhen maybe they get as high as 3. 5 , but they have had their selloff to a large degree. The front end, if you think the fed will respond with, as you say three or four hikes this year, potentially more in 10201, its the curve flattener. We are seeing that to a larger degree, even with the additional issuance, given the budget. You are still in a macro environment where the curve should move flat. Charlie is going to stick around, the head of rates at aviva investors. Of next, we bring you the stocks on the move, including Deutsche Bank, and the plans for the Asset Management unit, dws. The stock trading up a little bit in the market, up around 0. 7 . This is bloomberg. Guy we are 11 minutes into the session. About how the trading day is lets talk about how the trading day is evolving thus far. Reporter lets start out with Deutsche Bank, 0. 4 . News out this morning slowed the Asset Management window. Dws usuallylled kicks off a four week run off to that ipo. It could be a really big triumph for Ceo John Cryan to propose this ipo back in march. Daimler, is started out at the movingthe 8 00 hour, higher. It is not relatively flat. The chinese billionaire has become the top shareholder of daimler with a 9. 7 stake, nearly 10 stake there, 7. 3 billion euros. It is the First Chinese company to amass a huge stake in an overseas car company. And then arcelormittal. I looking at all steelmakers. Donald trumps wants to in force the harshest tariffs, a of 25 . Tariff the global stocks are not taking seriously at. We will see what he actually and subduing. Chairman of geely has become the largest shareholder of daimler, representing the biggest ever investment by a Chinese Car Company of an overseas maker. s already pretty much invested and a budget mother european Car Companies as well. Lets big to bloombergs reporter. Uto elizabeth, how big of a prize was this to daimler . T has been well, i speculated since november, but those speculations were only for a 2 or 3 stake and now it comes with 10 . And from what we understand, the size of the investment came as a surprise to the company. Guy what does this mean for daimler . How is it going to react . Does it change the strategy . Aizabeth well, i tmeans number of things on a number of levels. Daimler will be seeking to speak with the major shareholder. Was due toe know he. Eet a ceo today the reporting of germany this morning that daimler be pushing back against this. That is a normal reaction, i think with this cross hold productscompeting with that they also make. In terms of the opportunity here, elizabeth, i could provide daimler with a bigger opportunity into china. China is a huge auto market and to have a key shareholder with strong connections within the country could provide a huge opportunity. Do we see this as a glass halffull story . Elizabeth with the china question, daimler already has two partners in china, and in it cause of audi in 2017, showed it is important to keep your china partners on board. Some troubles with audis partners resulted in sales dropping quite sharply in china in 2017. The electric carmaker a jointmler has as venture, that has not been doing very well. Could they arrange with geely for a number of corporation, including electric cars. Guy thank you, elizabeth, joining us from munich. Till with us, Charlie Diebel charlie, we are trading at 1. 23 with the eurodollar at the moment. Heaghi will not talk te currency down. He is presumably comfortable at 1. 23. The chinese currency is obviously a big mix of this as well. He does not really have an incentive to change the narrative at this point in time because as you say, 1. 23 if you look at the range over the last five years, we are essentially mid range. We are causing great stress. But obviously, we will not want to see protracted dollar weakness and eur4o strength taking the dollar near 1. 40, and thereby challenging his reflationary m i think they are comfortable enoughantra. As it is right now, but if you get towards the 1. 30 area, it will start causing some concerns. Guy Charlie Diebel, head of rates over at aviva investors, sticking around. I mentioned that sberbank is trading quite strongly to the upside and we saw that within the russian market, which opens earlier than the european markets and we are getting further evidence of that into the london session. s come on the rerating of russia. Profit is coming through well ahead of estimates. We have got sberbank trading up and the ecb adding a bit into that mix with that poverty line. Plenty more still to come. This is bloomberg. Guy Angela MerkelsDemocratic Union will vote on the proposed Coalition Pact with the social democrats. We have a big boat coming up with the social democrats tomorrow. Fed chair Jerome Powell testifies for the house and will deliver his first semiannual Monetary Policy report to discuss the state of the u. S. And wednesday, eu chief brexit negotiator Michel Barnier representatives on the issue of brexit. This is what is going on in europe over the next 10 days, because it is a pretty busy period. Lets start with the brexit idea. Jeremy corbyn, the leader of the labour party, will deliver a speech today at 10 00 a. M. , in which he effectively says he thinks the labour party should back remaining in the Customs Union and a much softer brexit. That does a bunch of things, one of which it puts the softer brexit more firmly into the middle of the distribution. It raises the prospect of the general election because this is not where the conservative parties are, not where theresa may is. U. K. Does this leave assets . Charlie well, volatile is one. Again, you continue to do what you have done for a while, which is try to price somewhere in between several binary outcomes. As we know, with anything that involves election risk, given somethingtory, is that is going to make people run very cautious. Clearly, the softer brexit would reinforce the idea that the bank of england needs to be perhaps more on its toes and more hawkish in that it would be a more benign guy i have a longerterm chart here. The market has been pricing in a more hawkish bank over the last couple of weeks. It is a decent move. How do i price that. If i price the softer brexit, do i think rates are going higher, but the turbulence around the election and of Jeremy Corbyn were to win that election, if you are the bank and you are the market, how do you figure out i think they would focus on the greater issue and potentially, the more stimulus that the corbyn government and would put in place. That means a greater guilt issue but it probably means the bank versus the more hawkish line. Assuming there was a corbyn victory and a labor government. Risks, on the balance of you have to pursue the more hawkish balance. Particularly at the front end. I think is it becomes a more is angful risk that there election, that is the long end of the gilt market which starts to worry me a lot. So, potentially curve steepening, even in environment where it is quite steep is the outcome. Guy lets talk about the election, the sbp vote. Are those risks . Charlie we think those are risks, but they are not to be too large. We have had the situation before their there were very long and protracted negotiations. Movecould mean germany slightly towards an expansionary fiscal policy. Guy what if germany goes back and has another election. That would create a lot of uncertainty. It not proposes the right outcome, but shows the right views. In that moment, the number one victim will be the euro. This is not a nexus central risk, justin uncertainty risk. It is not something that endangers the euro itself, but it will be a catalyst. You do not think the italian election is a risk . Charlie not particularly because again, looking at the likely outcome that the existential threat to the euro does not really fit anymore. This is just more uncertainty that will pass. Clearly, were there to be a material risk, then all bets are off, but we dont think that is case. Guy charlie is going to stick around. We will carry his conversation with charlie. We will talk about what is that its that it is happening here. The speechve jerom for the labour party. The banks are trading incredibly strongly this morning, vtb and sberbank numbers are strong. Russia, feeling very firmly on the front foot this morning. Up next, we hear from the. Hairman of seer guy 30 minutes into the trading day and european stocks start the day in positive territory with investors awaiting jay powells first appearance as fed chair. A 25 in the german heartland. The chinese conglomerate geely, the top shareholder in daimler. Keep watching how that story develops. And Asset Management. Deutsches kicks off the plans , good morning and welcome t you are watching european markets. Lets talk about how these stocks are trading. Steinhoff, it bounces around all over the place. Trading higher come up this morning. There has not been much of a reaction in Deutsche Bank sorry, in daimler this morning, not Deutsche Bank. About 8 . Was up lets show you what the losers look like. The insurance sector and the bottom of the market tops out with numbers today. The company talking about this regulatory imposition it is facing at the moment. It is interesting to see if we see a change in the government within the u. K. , and the bank of ireland is also trading lower this morning. That is where we are seeing weakness this morning. Basic resources, that is where the money is flowing come into the miners, etc. Look at the bloomberg first word news update with sebastian salek. Rulingr xi jinping beyond 2023. The provision bars the head of state for more than two heads of office. E sparked a wave of reaction on social media in china. He might be willing to hold talks with the u. S. Dontgain opinion you will visit donald all plans for pena nieto to visit donald trump next month have been postponed indefinitely. Economicnow, the fundamentals have the potential to grow the company. With the music that is enjoyable. That is that is the idea. But we need the strength to open the company. Withve a lot of experience banks. Caroline why banks . Luca yeah, because it is the same thing, for example. Lets start with david from our bloomberg deals team. Aware . Of this of this story . How quickly did this all come together . Reporter good morning, great to be here. These things take time. We sold the business to Standard Life, an Asset Management company, in 2014. We have had a four year relationship in overtime, this transaction has evolved in i have got to congratulate the Management Team over there. I think they have a view of how they wanted their business to evolve and we were the final piece of the pie. Investors seem to be backing you, giving you the benefit of the doubt. What do you think you need to do now to prove them right . Benefit of the doubt, a nice way of describing it, we have earned it. We have earned that right. We did two transactions in 2016. One transaction was the acquisitions business. We have done the integration further than we set and we have ofe it with a greater degree financial success. I think our shareholders have been reported from the transactions in the past, but you cannot rest on your laurels, so this is a proposed transaction. We will wait for full regulatory approval, which will take four months or so. We have a lot of planning to do in that period. Of course, the intelligent thing to do is to use all of the assets strength. Guy you simply confident about what is happening in the world right now. Th eworld has become more volatile, yet m a seems to be on the front foot. Guy, i can talk about insurance, but not the entire landscape. It is perfectly clear to bme, in ar sector at least, set off starting gun which means there will be further consolidation. Did not have to be purchased for the annuity. It might have made you an involuntary investor in that means the rewards for being a investment manager are going up, versus being a risk carrier. We are a risk carrier. The second starting gun was solvency, which repriced capital. So, threes ago we said there would be this bifurcation in our industry between people, such as Standard Life aberdeen who want to be and are already worldclass investment managers, and people such as us, Phoenix Group, who want to be risk carriers and administrators. That is a very different skill set. This transaction has mapped that broader industry trend and i think we are at a starting point, not a stopping point. There are more members looking at the press on their capital, looking at what they are good at and this is about specialization. Phoenix does what it does very well, and so does Standard Life aberdeen. Ruth we have seen so many investors in europe last year. Companies in the u. K. , how are you dealing with them . Are you doing things differently . E ribbone have a blu; roll call of investors in the Phoenix Group, of which they very proud and grateful. We have had permanent investors otherwise because we are a longterm durable business, we generate income around 6. 5 . 30 of our investors are income stockholders. Activists turned up because they want to drive growth. And they believe largely that management is not doing a good enough job and they need a kick. That has not been an accusation to be laid at the door the Phoenix Group. Activism has a role to play and when money is relatively cheap, those positions can be funded. It is not always clear to me that activists act in the best longerterm interest of shareholders. In the Insurance Industry though, they are relatively rare. Visibility of the insurance landscape. I would like to widen the frame a little bit. Jeremy corbyn is giving a speech later, in which he will likely lay out plans to keep the u. K. Within the Customs Union, but that may hamper the general election and more political volatility. If you look at what is happening here in the u. K. , what do you view the u. K. Es operating environment as . That we could see a change in the terms of trade. Give me a sense of what you see coming towards us here in brit ain. Clive businessmen are not great politicians. You a question. Its very hard not to be relatively bullish about aspects and Economic Growth when you have the three largest economic groupings in the world, the u. S. , europe, and china moving forward. Hard to be a bear in that situation. However, we know we are closer to the ceiling in terms of anyomic values and you miss earnings forecast. It is in a citation of growth and profitability. Which is hard to sustain. Then, you take the u. K. , which remain inside a bubble. I am sure the ending will be more tranquil than we would imagine. Serves the end. We talked about specialization, adam smith. People working with each other. To spiteg up noses faces and i do not believe that is the intent of any Political Agency at the moment. We imagine going into negotiations with a great deal of posturing. The underlying, eventual outcome will be to benefit the organization. I am more of a bore than a bear, but im cognizant that the ceiling is very close. Guy thank you for coming to see us here at bloomberg. Clive thank you for having me. And ruthe banister from our brexit coverage. Lets talk about what is happening within the markets this morning. Reporter lightly pushing the button there on midcaps, but vtb did report earnings this hour, so i wanted to show that share moved up 5 and sberbank is up more than 4. 5 . On top of that, just seeing russian assets trending higher. Countrysted the Credit Agency out of junk on friday. The bank of ireland down more than 4 . This lender was bailed out by the Irish Government during the financial crisis and it is now returning a dividend. The ceo spoke to bloomberg today, saying returning the dividend is the pivotable moment for the bank. The the interest market is lower than in 2017 and finally, post and l. Reported profit for the full year was 4. 5 below the average a Company Issued a profit warning and that is why we have shares plunging this morning. Morgan stanley saying that caused by probably large and unexpected volume from other postal operators. That stock is under pressure, down 16 , guy. Guy thank you. Lets continue to look at the private equity firms, sitting on the largest pile of cash they have amassed. See the rays of 10. 8 billion we have seen the raise of 10. 8 billion euros, the largest ever fund. Do they have different objectives for this fund . No, they are telling us to remain with the same objectives, generate above average returns. We have 75 of the investors from previous funds reinvesting in this fund. Guy i only asked the question because we were talking about valuations with our previous guest and i am wondering whether this is changing. Christian you would think so, but in the 1990s and 2000s, active ownership was the theme. Now we are talking about transformation and growth changing companies. So, we have different tools that we used to approach our investors differently and we create a lot more value with how we work with the company. We believe we should be able to touch more customers shortly. Guy is it a diversifier . Christian mom you called . Oh hi sweetie, i just want to show you something. Xfinity mobile find my phone.
