Hidden Truths — Bloody Sunday 1972 examined one of the great tragedies of the Troubles in Northern Ireland — the shooting of thirteen Irish civil rights protestors by British soldiers in Derry, Northern Ireland on January 30, 1972. The International Center of Photography exhibition in New York was remarkable for bringing together the public — the classic media photography taken by professional photographers which appeared in the papers at the time — and the personal — photographs from the families of those who were killed on that day. Curator Trisha Ziff included personal effects from the deceased, such as the T-Rex album of one of the teenagers who died and a Mars bar from the pocket of another, to lend a poignant and evocative note to the exhibition.
