now the NBC five sports desk brought to you by Xfinity. It didn't really hit me until and the like 10 minutes before the game. And all my family's here. Friends, everyone, fans, literally. Everyone was here today, um, to see the seniors. That was UVM basketball LaMarcus Blakely following his senior night game back in 2010. It wouldn't be his final game hosting and winning the Americans championship game at Patrick two weeks later. And while it has been a full decade plus since he played his final game for Vermont, he will now be enshrined in the Catamount history forever. All this week, UVM is unveiling their class of 2020 Hall of Fame inductees, and Blakely is first up. The player that finishes UVM career fifth on the program's all time scoring list at nearly 1900 points, was named the Americans Player of the year back to back seasons as a junior and senior and was a three time league defensive player of the year. And while he won the defensive award almost every year he was in the league, it may have been this high flying act that you see that Catamount country truly remembers. I knew there was a good chance I was coming back to the newsroom with at least one dunk every game he played in, and he made the most of the Slams. Eventually winning the 2010 State Farm Division One college basketball slam dunk contest with a signature dunk that was invented by his teammate Evan Field, now widely known as the double dunk, were field dunk from one side. And then Blakely caught the ball and put it out from the bottom and dunks it right back in while in mid air. He would make ESPN's top plays three times during his college career days Post college. He joined the Clippers summer league team and in 2011 would become the Onley UVM cat to ever dress for an MBA franchise, doing so with the Houston Rockets. He never got in that game, but has continued his pro career signing with the Kumamoto falters of the Japanese Basketball League. Just this past January
