Five BJP leaders, including two MLAs, skipped a party meeting in Bengaluru. The meeting was called to discuss enrolling new voters for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. The absentees include MLAs Shivaram Hebbar and ST Somashekar, who have been keeping away from the party since the May drubbing. Former CM Basavaraj Bommai and state unit president Nalinkumar Kateel were also absent. The BJP is yet to name a new president for the state unit and Leader of the Opposition in the assembly. Reports suggest that some BJP leaders are in touch with the Congress.
