TV: Pretend it's a City
There are few things the writer and social commentator Fran Lebowitz likes. In fact, her five-decade-long career has pretty much been defined by the things she hates, centered around her orbit of New York City. This seven-part documentary from Martin Scorsese is an escape into Lebowitz’s singular, prickly mind. Free of the constraints of everybody else’s opinions—Lebowitz is a staunch Luddite and has never owned a computer or a smartphone and doesn’t use the internet—you won’t find a sharper wit cutting through the cultural noise.
