Koderma: The Koderma police on Saturday arrested probationary deputy superintendent of police Ashutosh Kumar and his two friends Saurabh Kumar and Suraj Kumar in connection with the death of their friend Nikhil Ranjan in Jawahar ghat under Chandwara police station limits on Friday. The four friends had gone for a picnic at Telaiya dam in Koderma on Friday when around 4:30pm Nikhil was killed near Jawahar ghat area after an “accidental” firing from Ashutosh’s service revolver.
Nikhil was rushed to sadar hospital by his friends but he was declared brought dead, police said.
Police said that an FIR has been lodged at Koderma police station on the basis of the complaint filed by Nikhil’s father Rishav Dev Singh, who is an assistant sub-inspector at Gaya in Bihar. “Our investigation is underway and all three are behind bars,” DSP headquarters (Koderma) Sanjeev Kumar Singh said. He added, “The cause of Nikhil’s death has not been ascertained yet. A medical board has been constituted, headed by sadar hospital’s deputy superintendent Dr R Kumar, to conduct a post-mortem under the supervision of a magistrate.”
