The family took the naturalization oath of allegiance today. It’s the day Yanet Lopez and her family have been waiting for. Yanet, her husband Lider and son Robert are officially becoming U.S. citizens.Yanet is a beloved cafeteria manager at Prairie Vale Elementary in Deer Creek schools.Yanet was overcome with emotion as more than 500 students and teachers watched the ceremony on livestream from her classroom. And during the event, a message came from President Joe Biden.“Every human who comes from American for different circumstances and for different reason, but all have one thing in common: courage to sacrifice and make this journey,” he said. Then came the swearing-in and the certificate that marked the momentous occasion. "I'm just so proud of them. They're hard workers,” Robert said. “We are so lucky to have so many opportunities in this country and we feel so welcome overwhelmed by love and support.”"We are proud to live here in the U.S. Free now and believe in the democracy in this country. Very happy,” Yanet said. The day ended with a Deer Creek Antler salute."I can't stop crying,” she said.
