Viktorea Sims stood 20 feet in the air on a hydraulic lift, contributing to a major community art project.
The mural being painted on the Albion Malleable Brewing Co. building was not too large for the 12-year-old artist to tackle, thanks to the help of her "Big," Kimber Thompson, who was there on the lift beside her.
On May 18, Sims and Thompson began working on a mural that will celebrate Albion's long history as a foundry and manufacturing hub. The pair were first matched in 2019 through the mentoring program Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southwest Michigan, and were elated to have their first face-to-face meeting since the pandemic began.
