KINGSFORD — The Kingsford City Council has approved bids for work to make the Kingsford Public Safety building more accessible and compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act.
The council accepted:
— A $9,650 bid from St. George Glass of Iron Mountain to replace the front entrance door; $18,000 had been budgeted.
— A $24,000 bid from Universal Plumbing in Iron Mountain to update a bathroom. The budget had $23,000 for the bathroom, but City Manager Mike Stelmaszek said the project has been in the capital plan for several years.
Council members pointed out the city still would save money on the overall project. Only one bid was submitted for each contract.
