Plastic packaging and nonwoven products maker Berry Global plans to inject $70 million to expand its manufacturing operations in Benson, NC after local officials approved performance-based incentives for the project, a release issued by Johnston County Economic Development said Monday.
The company is investing in the site in response to increased demand for its disinfecting wipe brands. While the market for disinfecting wipes grew by about 6% per year from 2014 to 2019, sales of the products skyrocketed during the COVID-19 pandemic, according to data gathered by trade media organization Happi.
