What to Know
Authorities in eastern Pennsylvania have launched an investigation after they say a police officer shot and killed a man armed with a knife.
Events unfolded Monday when a woman called 911 in Berks County to say a male with a knife had threatened her in her home.
According to the district attorney’s office, Muhlenberg Township police officers found the male brandishing a knife. Authorities say the suspect refused to drop the weapon and an officer discharged his Taser, which had no effect. That’s when authorities say the second officer fired once, hitting the suspect in the chest.
