Bengali theatre actor Koushik Kar was allegedly dropped from a play named 'Ghum Nei', after he joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
The play is directed by Saurav Palodhi.
In 2019, Kar was invited by the theatre group, Ichheymoto, owned by Palodhi, to essay the central character in the drama.
The play is an adaptation of the 2015 Dadri incident where a man called Mohammed Akhlaq was beaten to death by a mob on suspicion of eating beef.
