Netflix has had a surprise hit on its hands with
Believe Me: The Abduction of Lisa McVey, based on a harrowing true-life story.
The movie actually debuted on Lifetime in the US and Showcase in Canada in 2018 and isn't a Netflix original movie. However, the true crime aspect has drawn viewers in and it's topped the most-watched charts since its release on June 1.
Believe Me tells the true story of Lisa McVey who, in 1984, was abducted and raped over the course of 26 hours by serial killer Bobby Joe Long. After she persuaded him to let her go, she helped police with information that would lead to his arrest.
