Temperatures stayed in the upper 20s, so Letzring was keeping a close eye on her team's hydration.
"They dip a lot of snow on the run. So when the dogs are going, they'll take mouthfuls of snow to help keep themselves hydrated. But then mainly in the checkpoints, one of the first things you do is make sure you get some water back in the dogs so they do stay hyrdated," she said.
She left Trail Center with 11 of her 12 original dogs and was very happy with their performance.
"I have one younger dog on the team, and she is still a spunky spitfire," Letzring said. "So that's nice to see when they're young and up-and-coming that they're still happy this far in the race and raring to go."
