Our international editor Jeremy Bowen has been talking to young palestinians and israelis about how they view the war. Its been another brutal, sad day. In gaza, more funerals of palestinians killed by israel. Talking peace will come much later. What about people caught up in the war . Injerusalem we met Israeli Army reservists who spent months on active service in gaza and on the lebanese border. The world thinks we have two options, to go to war or sign a ceasefire or a peace agreement. Im sorry to say that we have two options a very bad war right now or much worse in the future. I feel that right now, israel is kind of stuck in the middle with a western world that doesnt really know how to talk about the war, Cos War is a bad thing, its always something you can decide not to have, its always up to you as a western country, and you can decide to have peace, as if you can decide to have a relationship with someOne. You will have heard a lot of criticism of israel for killing civilians. Do you think that is fair . I dont because israel has no intention of doing that. It is a civilised society. Fighting hideous people. Israel is held by different standards by everyOne in the World Israel is held by different standards by everyOne in the world, and i know the reason why, the reason is pure anti semitism. Israels destroyed universities, killed thousands of civilians as well as hamas people, loads of the Gaza Strip is just rubble. Was that really necessary . I think its not enough im sorry to say that its not enough. After october 7th, we have seen many people going through the streets and just being happy that they were able to do what they did on october 7th. We Cant Trust them with our lives any more. We are no longer willing to do that. From jerusalem, we crossed Jerusalems Complex of walls and fences and went to the West Bank to meet community organisers. They say the west tells lies, has double standards, has double standards One law for israel and ukraine, another for the palestinians. From the very first moment, they denounced the 7th of october. But we didnt see the same international community i denounced the 6th of october,. 5th Of October or 8th of october. Now almost more than a year on the 7th of october, where we are now, and where i the international community are, they prefer to stay in the One'>Comfort ZOne where our people are dying every day. You live in a troubled land. How do you see the future . Very blurred. You cannot see it. Its very gloomy. Tell me why. Because you dont know what will happen in the next hour not the next week, but the next hour. You dont know what will happen. We spoke to some young israelis. We spoke to some young israelis, similar Ages 20s to you guys, and they said, look, we cannot trust the palestinians after the 7th of october. Look what they did. I would say the same because after what they did with the 7th of october, the killing of the palestinians in gaza and the West Bank also, killing palestinians, Kids Being shot in the head, elderly people, women walking to checkpoint and being killed, i can say that i think the same. I cannot trust an israeli especially idf. So, hen you hear the israelis saying they follow international law, they respect the law, you dont believe it . Actually, no, i dont belive it. This is like a movie that hasnt stopped. This is like a Horror Movie that hasnt stopped. We see the israeli occupation, they attacked palestinians in gaza, how they bombed a hospital, families, the kids, they dont have any red lines. Now we start to feel that our new generation believe more i in the struggle by Military Waysl because by the way we are losing a full palestinian generation. When a whole generationl loses a whole generation, the international community should take care of this. This was supposed to become the palestinian parliament. It was abandOned, unfinished when the process collapsed. Broken dreams, Forgotten Dreams Of A Better Future that right now is bleak. Jeremy bowen, bbc news, jerusalem. As weve been hearing, israel continues its bombardment in gaza with israeli attacks reported in Central Gaza earlier today. The hamas run Health Ministry says 56 people have been killed in the strip in the past 2a hours. It follows heavy clashes reported at the Jabalia Refugee camp in northern gaza. The idf believes hamas is rebuilding its stronghold in the region and wants to prevent the fighters from regrouping. This is the fourth time israeli troops have returned to this area. The Us Supreme Court has heard a challenge to a biden Administration Regulation on Ghost Guns, and it appears likely to uphold Mr Biden s regulations. These Ghost Guns are gun kits that are sold online and can be assembled into a functioning weapon in less than 30 minutes. The finished weapons do not have serial numbers, making them nearly impossible to trace. In 2022, the Biden Administration mandated that Ghost Guns have serial numbers and required Background Checks for buyers. The picture on your screen is a photo of Mr Biden during an event about Gun Violence in 2022. The regulation came after the number of Ghost Guns seized by American Police soared from fewer than 4,000 recOveries in 2018, to nearly 20,000 in 2021, according Tojustice Department data a 400 increase. 0n the other side, representatives from Gun Manufacturers argued to the supreme court that the Biden AdministrationOverstepped its authority by classifying these kits as firearms. Tuesday brought no shortage of heavy downpours to many parts of the uk. But Over the next couple of days, things will be turning just a little bit drier at the same time, though, as northerly winds develop, it will also turn colder. Low pressure is still in charge of the scene right now. This low still bringing some outbreaks of rain for parts of the uk. This deep low, ex hurricane kirk, thankfully staying well away to the south of us, bringing some very wet and very windy weather to northern parts of spain. Back home, some outbreaks of rain mostly quite patchy, quite showery in nature, but the Odd Heavy Burst across northern england, up into eastern scotland. Rather cloudy and damp for parts of wales, the north midlands. Northern ireland seeing a lot of clouds, some spots of Rain And Drizzle as well. A mix of sunny spells and showers, 16 17 celsius. But Northern Scotland turning brighter, but colder later in the day as these brisk northerly winds kick in. Could even see some wintry showers Over high ground in Northern Scotland, because temperatures really will be dropping away through Wednesday Night into the first part of thursday, with a frost across parts of scotland. A little bit milder further south first thing on thursday, but through the day, this Cold Air will be moving its way southwards. So, a very different feel to the weather, but actually, things dont look too bad. Certainly a drier day in prospect, some good spells of sunshine. Just a few showers around western and eastern coasts, where it will be quite windy for a time. Still the potential for some Wintriness Mixing in with the showers Over the very highest ground in Northern Scotland. But these are the Afternoon Highs 8 13 celsius at best. Could well see a frost in parts of england and wales to start friday morning. Here, though, we should see some good spells of sunshine Northern Ireland not looking too bad, but we will see cloud and patchy rain getting into the northwest of scotland. Still feeling a little bit on the chilly side 8 9 celsius in the far north of scotland, 12 13 for south wales and the south of england. Now into the weekend, High Pressure never too far away from Southern Parts so here, staying largely dry. Fairly weak frontal systems up to the north, bringing some rain at times. And if anything, those temperatures just creeping upwards a little bit by sunday, highs of 11 15 celsius. Live from washington, this is bbc news.
